It seems Jarvis Thomas is interested in MU,  has anybody seen him play.  How does compare to Joey Hauser?   A little logjam of recruits as they do need a guard.
They would have to think Bailey will play guard or if they get Elliot there will be no room for all the potential recruits, have only 3 left then.  2 might be taken?

Jarvis gets called a PF by a lot of people.. I think of him as a 3/4 guy. Very athletic, explosive, great emotion... fun kid. Played this summer on the D1 Minnesota 16U team with fellow MU target Race Thompson..

Jarvis is a guy who can produce some highlight reel plays on offense.. should be able to defend multiple positions in college... all around contributor with an enticing upside.

Jarvis.. think more Buzz era... athletic, switchable.. vs. Joey.. big, but great traditional traditional skills and finesse-ability.. pretty stroke, versatile..  different guys for sure. I'm a big fan of both. Joey's a sure shot great player.. Jarvis can* be very, very good...

Thanks, watched the video, looks like he is athletic and can dunk.  Looks like a nice addition.

I hope Wojo starts focusing on combo guards soon.    Even assuming Howard stays 4 years, knee injuries happen.    I don't want to see HC play point during his senior year because there is no other choice.

You have to like the fact in the video he dons jersey #77.

PG and combo guards...
Courtney Ramey, TJ Moss, Ayo Dosunmo...maybe even Prentiss Hubb and Quentin Grimes who are listed as SG on some sites but PG on others.  All have size to play SG in addition to PG. Wojo definitely in pursuit of several good guards for 2018.

Great, if he signs Elliot, then signs Thomas, and figure Hauser, has Bailey, he is running out of room for any of those guards?  Transfers, most are Freshman and
Sophomores, I see no movement there.   Can not sign everybody???  Must think Cain can play 2 guard or Bailey.

I know we were looking at Duane Washington Jr. He is in your backyard any word on where he is going? I know he was hoping to go to MSU with  his teammate Tillman.

A lot of people had Brendan Bailey as more of a SG.

I can definitely see a Cain-Bailey-Hauser (either one) lineup in the future or Cain-Hauser-Hauser with Bailey off the bench.  I see the next 3 scholarships shaping up like this:

1) SG in either '17 or '18.  Looks like Elliot will be the priority for 2017...bird in hand vs waiting until 2018...but probably a redshirt for Elliot.  Miss on Elliot and then 2018 SG becomes a priority.
2) Skilled 4 in '18...most notably Joey Hauser but Wojo is definitely keeping plenty of irons in the fire.
3) *PG in 2018...a big one that can defend SG...backup Howard and play next to him at times.

*Grad transfer could be added for next year.  If not, roll the spot forward to 2018.  So either way there will be at least 2 available in 2018 (besides Bailey getting one spot).

Wojo seems to be in on a lot of these in the 2018 class. Ramey, Domunsu, Moss, etc.

I do know, Newsie is right on you knowing ball.

I should mention on Jarvis Thomas... young for his grade as well... younger than 2019 target Matthew Hurt even... although MH is old

These tapes are really useless. (Don't mean that as a criticism of your post.)

What does a breakaway dunk tell us about a player? What does hitting a couple '3s' tell us?

I'd much rather see a real-time tape of a guy and find out what he does when the ball is not in his hands. I liked watching guys like Hauser and Herro in HS for their total games - for what they do off-ball, how they create offense in a team framework, what they do on defense, how hard they work on the non-glamorous plays.

A 6'8" guy dunking a basketball does not show me even one useful ability.

The video was more to show his outside ability and to talk about how he is a 2. Can't make anyone happy on scoop.

I'm just not a fan of mix-tapes. They are strictly PR. The tape showed me nothing that would suggest he is a '2'. So, he made some threes? Dunked the ball? How about guarding a quality '2'? Or working against a press? Or coming off a screen ?

If I had a mixed tape showing me hitting every three and driving around Ulice Payne for an easy hoop, you'd wonder why college coaches missed the boat on me.

Of course, none of my misses would be on the tape - nor the times Ulice put the ball right back in my face. But on the tape, every shot goes in.

I once stole the ball from Shaun Livingston, so my mixtape features some nice lockdown defending in addition to a handful of layups and jumpers. SWISH!

If Wojo is building a hockey team, then he needs to find a goalIE to replace fischer, according to some here.

My mix tape would include running myself away from Vander as to not get dunked on. Shows my headiness and basketball IQ by me not giving up dumb fouls.

Nice story and video of an interview with Elliott.  He now averages 32 points, 9 rebounds, 4 assists,3 steals, and 2 blocks.  In the interview he says that a late February visit to MU is the only visit he has decided on so far.

You actually have a degree from Marquette?

No...and after reading many many psosts from people on this board that do...I have to say I'm MUCH better off, if this is the type of "intelligence" a degree from MU gets you. It sure is on full display I will say that.

Elliot visited Toledo and Rice in the fall.  Seems like Marquette is turning up the heat.  Really hoping Greg chooses MU!

That article really has me intrigued.  Great athlete, can defend, pass, turning into a big time score and a leader. Could be something after a red shirt year and 20 lbs of muscle.

LAMUfan

How often do guards red shirt?  Seems odd that a lot of people would expect GE to.  I know Big Daddy had referenced that someone may red shirt but I would think it would be more like to be a big man like Eke.

6'3" guy with suspect defense who is barely in the top 300 might pick us over Toledo and Rice.  Not shaping up to be a great class.

That kinda was my knee-jerk reaction, too. But Wojo has had a pretty good feel for recruits so far, and if he and his assistants feel this guy is a legit D1 prospect, I am in no position to disagree.
