TAMU, Knower of Ball

People were calling you that because you were making rash statements that some saw as idiotic and others saw as moronic. Where you work doesn't change any of that. People say idiotic and moronic things in all walks of life, at all levels of employment. If you don't want to be denigrated for saying stupid things on the Internet, don't say stupid things on the Internet. Or as the old Mark Twain (I believe) saying goes, "Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak and to remove all doubt."

Agreed but people also shouldn't attack others for saying idiotic things. Call what they said moronic, not the person. Because like you said, we all say dumb things, so if you are a moron just because you said one moronic thing, than by that logic, we are all morons!

On second thought, there's a good chance that we are all morons

It's a chat board. Joke all you want.

I hope that when I start bragging about myself that you guys will make fun of me to bring me back to my senses.

When you have something to brag about let us know.   :)

He has scary knees.  Some of the PT's on the board know what I'm talking about.  other than that looks good.

Meh, the "valgus overload" doesn't look great, but he does it on his jump shot so it's a controlled position.  He's also more athletic than 99% of people, so will be able to control his knees to avoid injury as well.

It was not bragging. It was defending myself when a million people who don't know me were calling me an idiot/moron.

No worries, he can just hit the roids and be back and better than ever in a matter of months!

Made me have to watch the video.  Give him some hip and core strengthening and he will be fine.  Dude has a motor on him!

I'm gonna say it's more than a chance. I know I'm a moron as often as not. Just ask my wife.

Thanks for the Insight and nice to know Mark's background.  To me it adds a lot more meaning to his posts as opposed to some other posters.

Whose posts? Mark Miller hasn't posted here much for 5 years or so.

Friendly piece of advice.  Unless your real life credentials are relevant to the topic at hand, its likely best to keep them to yourself.  What you'll learn is that there are many highly credentialed people on these boards and throwing our your employment is not likely to impress people.

Also, its a message board, you are going to be called an idiot/moron, especially if you state something stupid.

Not many people would call me an idiot/moron in my non-message board environment; but I've been called it here, and most of the time...it was because what I said/did was idiotic/moronic.

That said, curious who you work for at Yale now.

True, and I am guilty of making fun of people who throw out their credentials like I did.  I just didn't really like being called an idiot. Maybe I'm hyper sensitive because I am a woman.

The guy I work for at Yale is Mark Hochstrasser.  I am a postdoc in his lab.

You all are ruining the recruiting thread. Stop.

Reasonable, not liking being called an idiot is a "ubiquitous" trait.  Good luck on your projects.

And I concur, Elliot looks like a good fit.

SMU transfer Harry Froling is visiting Marquette on the 8th & 9th, per Evan Daniels. 6'11 250lbs. Would be nice to have him for practice against Heldt and then available for Big East play.

tower912

He certainly has the size.   Left SMU after not getting enough PT as a frosh.    Will he, in a year, be better than Heldt, John, Eke?   Or would he just be another big body?

MU82

Here are a few small tidbits from an article on Froling on DraftExpress.com last April. It was based on workouts at last spring's Nike Hoop Summit ...

The first impression you get of Froling is that of his body, which is extremely poorly conditioned at the moment and in turn has caused him to draw significant skepticism from the NBA scouts in attendance about the extent of his long term upside. Still, you can't help but admire how effective he's been able to be thus far in spite of that. Whether it's scoring inside the post with crafty footwork and turnaround jumpers, crashing the offensive glass with terrific timing, getting in the passing lanes with excellent anticipation skills, or even creating off the dribble and tossing in nifty floaters, Froling defies initial expectations for what he should be able to accomplish on the basketball floor with his outstanding skill level, feel for the game, and competitiveness.

At 261 pounds, Froling has a long ways to go before he'll be able to play the type of defense Larry Brown will likely expect from him, and he has indeed shown to be somewhat on the lazy side on that end of the floor with the lackadaisical attitude he displays towards stepping out on the pick and roll, getting a hand up on shooters, or rotating over the weakside for blocks. Part of that is due to his body, part his lack of lateral quickness and explosiveness, and part simply the fact that he's young and doesn't realize how to play hard on every possession.

I don't know how much he has progressed since then, but sounds a little like a taller, better ballhandling version of Davante.

I think the only other place he is slated to visit is Oregon State.

This has everything to do with fellow Australians Thon Maker and Delly being in Milwaukee and playing for the Bucks.  He is friends with the Maker brothers.

jsglow

I see that he had been recruited by Brown and that a coaching change occurred immediately thereafter.  Might be just a 'not a good fit' situation.  Glad he's paying us a visit.  The good news is that a decision has to come very soon.
