Okay, how 'bout some speculation now boys.  We have French (visit complete) and Tillman (visit next weekend) for one slot at the moment.  Many here would argue that Tillman is the #1 target while either or both would be outstanding additions to our program.

What might Wojo do if French asked to commit this week?  Might Wojo oversign? Does anyone think that French has been asked to wait?

What does this leave Nwora?

Where does this leave Stockard?
French still has two more officials. This coming week at the Gophers and then his final at St. Louis. He just narrowed to final six so I think it will be a while before he selects.  He seems to be taking a thoughtful measured approach to all this.

MSU has a lot of open scholarships so they are going all out for Tillman.  Hopefully he does not commit before showing up for our visit.

I don't think we will know where we stand with Nwora until he selects his final group. His inside/outside offensive capabilities are very impressive and are attracting a lot of attention.

We need to get Stockard to visit.  Xavier is showing him a lot of attention recently. This kid is super athletic and has a lot of upside.

Ah, perhaps some news I might have forgotten or not seen.  Has Tillman indicated that 9/30 is decision day?

On 9/9, his mom tweeted out that the countdown was on and it was three weeks until decision day. Really hoping they stick to that timetable.

Me too, one way or another then we have a decision and can focus on other recruits or let other recruits move on.

My hope, we take French and Tillman; but either right now is pure gravy.

We only have room for one unless Wilson plans to leave.

Considering Duane already used his redshirt, I find that very difficult to believe.

If he leaves, it would likely be as a grad transfer after this year. No need to sit out.

Four inside players in this year's class with one a year above them?  (That's five)

Me?  I'd rather have a scholarship to use on a big next year like Joey Hauser or Race Thompson.
You actually have a degree from Marquette?

No...and after reading many many psosts from people on this board that do...I have to say I'm MUCH better off, if this is the type of "intelligence" a degree from MU gets you. It sure is on full display I will say that.

I am looking at Nwora as a tall 2/3 with an excellent outside shot who can also take it inside. A modern day Dan Majerle type.

We need to get at least 1 actual guard in the next class to go along with Bailey and hopefully Joey.

I don't think you can afford to take both Tillman and French to go along with Eke and John......not that it matters because the chances of French wanting to come if Tillman says yes are pretty remote.

A balanced roster is important. Can't wait until 2019 and then have to take 3-4 guards.

If we took two, I would assume that the coaches already know his plans in regards to this.

GGGG

I'm not sure it would be smart to take two regardless if they know or not.  First, five freshman is a lot.  Second, it leaves a question hanging over the team all season.

Agreed. Better to take one. If someone leaves, look at transfer options or just roll the scholarship to 2018. No need to oversign now and force a situation that could change in any number of ways in the next year (medical redshirt, expected departure changes their mind, etc.).

Here's something to consider.  Had Wojo signed either Kostas or one of the Juco candidates,  we'd be done now.  Wonder what folks would think with the prospects still being recruited this year?

To correct an error, I meant to say transfer candidates,  not Juco.

Ug. Thanks for mentioning Kostas. That's gonna be like a dog whistle for some.

With respect to Kalif Young, I think we would have been slightly better off with him, in that he would be playing this year.
With respect to Kostas, I highly prefer the candidates we have for 2017. They have much more currently developed games, they are stronger and have  the same upside potential and in the case of Jamal Cain, next level potential.

Ha, now that the shock of NY's response has worn off.....

I too think we're better off.  I'd rather be pursuing Tillman, French, and Stockard and land one of the 3 than to have settled for Kostas or maybe even Young.  But I wonder it that's just a function of 'moved on'.

I think we've heard enough about Kostas.  How might Young have stacked up relative to the remaining target list?

On the old Popeye cartoon. Wimpy used to say I will give you two hamburgers tomorrow if you will give me one hamburger today. That is how I feel about Kalif Young relative to waiting a year and getting Theo/French/Ike. I think Kalif would earn some playing time at the 4 so he is the hamburger today.
