McCabe is really killing Herro's game right now.  Ball just dies in his hands. Herro needs to be feature of this team with McCabe as just one of the supporting cast out there. I might even bring McCabe off the bench at this point. Let Herro run the point and create plays. This team should be winning national titles not losing by 20. UW continues to put more effort in the recruiting battle and does appear to be winning right now. I was pulling for Marquette but it seems like they don't feel Tyler is a top priority. Why I don't know.

The reason they are losing is simple: horrible man defense. They don't play help D either. I don't know where Will McDonald was yesterday, but him and Justice are the only ones who moderately get after it. McCabe gambles all game long and is literally a matador out there. He has one move that gets an occasional steal where he pretends to be running down court on a made inbounds and cuts back to attempt a steal. This works 5% of the time and results in him trailing his guy down court the other 95%. Herro is alright, but gets exposed with no help. Deiner pretty much the same as Herro. The big guy, Trapp, is like a standing 7' 2" obstacle. Pull him out to even the block and guys run right by him; athletic 6' 6" guys typically destroy him. Plumb works his butt off, but he isn't super athletic either.

So what you have is a team that looks great when shots are falling, but have no ability to grind out wins with defense like say, the Swing or United. The no-look, between-the-legs passes look great on the mix tapes though. PW will beat 90% of the AAU teams out there on talent alone. But when they play with the big boys or teams that are physcial, they have to make shots in order for it to be competitive.

I do, but like I have said countless times, I would not want him on my D1 squad - who can he guard? He is a talented HS player and fun to watch. I have heard many people question the legitimacy of Deiner's offer too - there are a ton of rumors out there. It will be interesting to see where they all end up.

Looks Mac Irvin 16U is in tourney -- Ayo playing with both 16s and 17s.

Freeport is the king of this board. Willing to give his informed opinions and always does it with class. Never an "I told you so" kind of guy when his thoughts turn out to be reality.

I enjoy the back-and-forth and sharing of ideas (and the differing of ideas) with almost all posters here, but everyone knows that Freeport and Dig Daddy are must reading every time they post.

Hey, Freeport

You actually have a degree from Marquette?

Quote from: muguru
No...and after reading many many psosts from people on this board that do...I have to say I'm MUCH better off, if this is the type of "intelligence" a degree from MU gets you. It sure is on full display I will say that.

Back on topic...

Michigan State just offered Joey Hauser. That's the first blue blood offer, doubt it will be the last. Will be a huge recruiting test. Assuming Wojo can keep an upward trajectory with the program, Hauser could be an arguably bigger recruit to the program than Ellenson was because he would be coming in at a time when we had the team around him to maximize his talent.

Izzo has been at Homestead all day. I think Matta was watching him last night too.

I think Cheatham, Howard, Bailey. Sam Hauser and Traci Carter will go down as bigger recruits for MU/Wojo than Ellenson. Joey would be a much bigger get.

I agree. I love and appreciate HE man and will enjoy watching him in the NBA. But I will probably remember other players more fondly if they get us back to the tournament

They probably will have more impactful years on the court at MU, but what we do not know is how many of them would of came if Wojo missed out on Henry.

If McCabe has  truly actionable offers he should commit to one. A bird in the hand.

IS MU leader of the pack for Joey's services as of right now?

Didn't Cheatham and Bailey commit to MU before Henry?

Cheatham before, by about a month.

Bailey after, by about a year.
