Quote from: Juan Anderson's Mixtape on March 19, 2025, 10:29:21 AMYes, a little quicker than them and Ian can dunk in transition.

Ian's also a solid ball handler and passer. Much better than Joplin in that regard.

I think it's important when doing comparisons to remember that the Sam Hauser we remember from MU was a few years older than the Miletic we watched this year in games or video.

I saw Sam play in high school and I watched numerous games Ian played this year.

My take is at the same age Ian is a more well rounded player.....both had high basketball iqs.....Sam definitely a better shooter but Ian is good.........Sam was stronger......Ian quicker....more athletic......and better off the dribble........defense....Sam didn't move as well but he was stronger........both play hard and are tough........willing to do what it takes to win.

It's not a perfect comp imo but it's not a bad one......but how a kid develops is kind of a crapshoot as we all know.......Sam was a better defensive rebounder in college then I thought he'd be......but he never really expanded his game much offensively.......didn't get to the line much and didn't shoot many 2s..just never created much for himself.......still a fantastically efficient offensive player...........just needed help to get his shots.

Ps I'm not predicting that Ian will have a similar career......although that would be great obviously.

Nah.  MuMark has been too valuable too many times.  Not dodds.  Now, Burger is Vikingsrlosers and Gus Ganakas is Herman.   But there is no way that MuMark is dodds.

Lighten up Tower. Just having a little fun. And trying to get rid of Muggsy.

Definitely. Mark is a GREAT poster with good recruiting information. Do not chase him away.

My sincere apologies. I should not have done that. I really enjoyed the post. It's exceptionally good. Just found the similarity to Dodd's style interesting.

He did go full Dodds in that particular post.  "Never go full Dodds!"

I'm not Dodd's.

Ps he tends to hype a bit more than I do......I try to take off my blue and gold glasses as much as possible when I post ....so my takes are a bit more nuanced.........I think..... ;D

For sure.

I got Viking's because I was a member of the Chicago Bears 247.  When Dodd's got assimilated in.  They gave me a deal,  and I never bothered changing the monicker later.   Too lazy.

I still do hate the Vikings....

I should have double checked who the poster was.   I would have assumed humor if I had.

Juan Anderson's Mixtape

MuMark-

I appreciate your insight.

I also saw Sam Hauser in HS, as well as Steve Novak. Any comments I made comparing these two to Ian Miletic was in regards to their status as HS prospects.

Lots to like about Ian. He's his own unique prospect, where as I thought Steve and Sam were very similar as HS players.

That's been my exact comp as well, Jake.
I can't wait to see Miletic at MU, really think he could be one of the special ones.

I would say he is a poor man's Sam Hauser.

I view him as a Swiss Army knife kind of player.......can do a lot of things that lead to winning.

I think that also translates into driving defenders crazy. One-trick ponies make game planning easier on D. I'm really looking forward to seeing him on the court for the first time.

Miletic reminds me of Baylor Schierman (apologies for the non-MU comp).

Long, lefty wing.  Plus shooter but really solid, versatile all around game.

Sam was bigger and an elite shooter, less of a floor game than Miletic as a recruit.

Uncle Rico

Anyway to cut it, Miletic strikes me as a gym rat

Tried that once and ended up with a bloody mess.

Juan Anderson's Mixtape

I've watched about 8 minutes of Donovan Davis and I'm sold.

Really quick hands on defense, lots of steals at the top of their press, dove on the floor for a loose ball, alley-oop dunk off a set play, ran the floor for a transition layup.

The perfect athletic 4 for Shaka's system.
