When recruits say they are going to wait until this date or that date and make it appear that the 4, 5 or 6 schools recruiting them are fairly equal, I go back 20 years to the summer before Wesley Matthews senior year and he said in an interview that he was looking at a fall decision.  Two or less weeks later Pearl Kiley broke the news that Wesley committed to Marquette.

20 frickin years.

Any idea in the NIL era, if guys are still more likely to go to their AAU shoe affiliated schools?  Is MU less likely to get UA guys because of our affiliation with Nike or Jordan Brand?  Didn't know if it had changed.

TedBaxter

Al Amadou and Ian Miletic are/were on Under Armour teams and Zaide Lowery and Caedin Hamilton played for non-shoe affiliated teams, so Shaka hasn't focused on a certain show affiliation.  Stevens with Under Armour and Meyer with an Adidas program are other examples.  He obviously is looking for fit first and while an AAU program might favor a college program with the same affiliation for their players, I think the AAU coaches just want good college options for their players.

Marquette: "I have a great relationship with coach smart and the rest of the staff. They've done a great job recruiting me and getting to know my family. I have a true belief that they believe in me as a player and also a person. Great opportunity there."

Sure hope he does not go with No Dick. The Irish are a well hated program.

The last player signed by Marquette directly out of a NYC/Long Island high school was Dwayne Johnson out of Mater Christi in 1981 by Hank Raymonds.

Wasn't Roney Eford from NYC? Or did he come via prep school?

Roney was from Queens and then to
prep school in MA before MU.  So, both.
