Prolly more like 15-20 when all is said & done
A class of three top 100 players would not fall below top 15, even if it is just a 3 man class.

Sir Muhammed has been very quiet.  A ND beat writer interviewed him after his visit to ND but no one talked to him after his Marquette visit.  Tell Ben Steele to get with it and give us some scoops.

Well... let's look at 2022...

https://247sports.com/Season/2022-Basketball/TeamRankings/

17 Virginia, 19 UNC, 20 Florida St., 21 Texas Tech all had at least 3 top 100 guys.

Seems to me you got it twisted like a Rubik's Cube.

I'm all confused.  UNC had 2 top 100 recruits with similar potential rankings to MU's potential 3 and were ranked #10 per this site last year.

Or maybe if coaches ranked classes they would put Marquette's class in the top 5 as they know recruiting is an inexact science and they much rather have a class of players you get to have around for 3 to 4 years rather than just one or two years.

Caring about rankings is kinda crazy. Kids get bumped up in those for giving interviews, and for not being committed. Outside the top 10-20guys, they are very disingenuous

It seems to me that any one of Abraham, Sir, or Kon would make that class elite, likely top 5/10 in the country?

If you're talking about top 5/10 in terms of "top 5/10 rated class" and current recruiting rankings hold, in most years it would not be a top 10 class. However, it would have been a top 10 class last season no matter which of the three you add. I'm wondering if insta-transfers mean that programs are picking up less top freshmen. If that pattern holds, a class of Owens, Parham, and one of those three could end up being a top 5/10 class.

Using 247's class calculator tool, adding Kon would bump the class' score to 61.02. That would have been good for:
2023: 4th
2022: 11th
2021: 8th
2020: 11th
2019: 13th
2018: 14th
2017: 9th
2016: 12th
2015: 11th
2014: 11th

If Sir is added the score is 59.79:
2023: 6th
2022: 13th
2021: 9th
2020: 14th
2019: 15th
2018: 14th
2017: 10th
2016: 13th
2015: 13th
2014: 12th

If Abraham is added the score is 57.41:
2023: 7th
2022: 15th
2021: 12th
2020: 18th
2019: 18th
2018: 16th
2017: 14th
2016: 15th
2015: 22nd
2014: t-16th

Also this. I would say top 20 are typically very accurate. 21-45ish is decently accurate. After that, I don't think there's much difference between 45 and 150 or so. And there are always a few gems outside the top 150 that no ones knows how they were missed. Regardless of what our recruits are rated, I trust Shaka to bring in some dudes who fit the culture.

If you're the 75th ranked recruit and get an offer, and you don't greatly exceed your expectations, you're probably being recruited over every year you are there.

If you're the 75th ranked recruit you probably don't get a real offer in the first place. And if you do you may have been recruited over in your own class.

The numbers 75 and 145 ranked recruits in the class of 2022 signed and enrolled at Duke.  #109 in the class of 2021 signed and enrolled.

Your #75 (Schutt) was actually #61 in the rsci - he never plays. Your #145 is a project center who was actually recruited over twice in his class (Lively and Filipowski). Good call on Bates(#109) - was the 4th guard last year as a sophomore and May become a big contributor. Bottom line still stands - very few 75+ recruits get offered by Duke - none in 23 and so far no offers to 24 or 25 players.

Whoa whoa Ahoya. If the kid is ranked 75 now it's possible he could go up after this year. Before he moves into the dorm in Milwaukee next year.  6-9 or 6-11 who knows what he'll be after another year.  180 lbs?  I watched him and saw a lot of alley oops. Omax stuff.  If he doesn't trip over someone and tear out his knee he could play for MU and get drafted in the 1st round.  Who knows?  I'm a believer in possibilities. It's possible he could fill a role or it's possible he could surprise everyone if he works hard.  We've seen it happen here before.

Which is exactly what I said. That each kid's situation is different and Duke may not be the best option. So I don't know what you're arguing here...

nobody want's to go to duke anyways. they don't value winning. Like Wisconsin, Ohio State, Louisville, Marquette, and Virgina do.

Duke Puke. We are Marquette. Duke Puke. We are Marquette. Does anyone know the melody to that? If I did I would whistle it. Isn't that where Wojo came from?  Help me out here. That ear worm is going to keep me up all night. Adam's Family maybe. It's not like I'm obsessed.  Not yet. Duke Puke.

Gotta love long, lanky, and athletic.

I feel like Shaka has a type with respect to 6'7 -6'9 kids who weigh between 180 and 200 and show they can shoot a bit, and I'm here for it.

I see the long and lanky. I also see a decent shooting stroke.

I'm not sure about the athleticism - it may take a year or two in a major school's workout program for the athleticism to pop.
