Johnathan Lamothe was at the game. Being recruited by both teams. Hope he liked what he saw

Looks like Shaka was at his game yesterday.  Seems to be a 2023 priority target.

Ames had a good game at the recent Highland Shootout in a 73-69 loss to CBC. Had 18, shot the ball well from deep and into the lane, was aggressive with good energy. 6'0  mguard who can score, and also create for others. First game back after missing a few with an ankle injury. The opposing team player who hit the game winning 3 pointer in the final minute was Anthony Gause. Gause was at MU Madness this past Fall. He's a 2024 reserve player for CBC this season.

A lot of Ohio recruits which I'm guessing is because of Coach Haynes.
Sean Jones (Commit), Lawrent Rice, Devin Royal, Dailyn Swain, Rayvon Griffith (Prospects).
I just checked the MU roster page and Sean Jones will be the first player from Ohio that we've had in 15+ years. (Official rosters only go back to 06-07)
Who was the last player from Ohio that has played for MU?

First one that comes to mind is Hutch. EDIT: Most recent was David Diggs.

Shaka was watching Bryce Lindsay and 5 Star Justin Edwards last night. We offered Edwards in July. Lindsay was a Wojo recruit but we made his Top 6 in July. Haynes was recruiting him after the coaching change. I kinda thought that ship had sailed after Sean Jones and Chase Ross signed but who knows.

2023 recruit Jahnathan Lamothe plays on the St. Frances team with Lindsay and visited Marquette.  Might be one of Shaka's priorities in 2023.

I'd be very surprised if Lindsay is still in play. I think Shaka was there for Edwards and Lamothe

Side trivia note: One Ohio recruit but who never played at MU but followed Crean was Bobby Capobianco.

Yep you guys are right, I didn't realize Lamothe was on that team as well.

It seems that every person he is watching is a guard?? They only have 2 scholarships the next two years, unless he takes grad transfers for one year.  It will be interesting if he can keep the team together next year or just keeps on recruiting over what he has right now.

Justin Edwards is a forward, not a guard. The only names we are currently being linked with for the 2022 class are bigs.

Only 2022 guys in consideration really are 4's and 5's. My guess is they'll go a transfer route with those positions. And just hope the guards improve year over year

I wonder if the new transfer rules will lead some coaches to emphasize guards and smaller players for high school recruitment, and bigs for transfers. I'm thinking about that perception that bigs often take more years to develop their production, so getting them after they've built more but and skills rather than investing in them for 4 years.

A 5 star? We don't want him.

Jones will be the 3rd player from Gahanna Lincoln to play for Shaka.  Shaka spent 4 years playing for Kenyon (OH) College and spent 5 years on the staffs of Akron and Dayton, so while Haynes may be involved, don't underestimate Shaka's connections in Ohio.

Unsurprising rankings jumps for Chase Ross (58 spots on 247 composite) and Sean Jones (7 spots on 247 composite).

Ames is a stud.  Would be a massive get for Shaka if he can beat Illinois for him.
