Marquette back in the JUCO game

I know we never got one, but were we ever even listed with a JUCO under Wojo...was there ever even one phone call made? It was always annoying how Wojo would celebrate a player like Crowder or Butler yet avoid recruiting a player of their "kind" at all costs.

FWIW, Kur Kuath also spent time at a juco before Oklahoma so technically we already have one.

Yes, he was involved with them.  Jamarious Burton was one, I believe

Hopefully wearing number 3 isn't a deal breaker for him.

Kario O can get up.  I'm a fan of effortless elevation at the 2G and pleased to hear we are looking at JUCOS again.

You got your former shockers mixed up.

It was Darral Willis Jr. Wojo recruited, had him on campus, and was on his final cut list IIRC before he ended up at Wichita State.

Wojo recruited several JUCOs but never landed any of them. Willis Jr was the one he got closest with. The idea that we couldn't recruit jucos was just a false narrative that some came up with and ran with.

The reality is that there only a dozen or so high major ready jucos in any given recruiting class. It's a niche recruiting pool and if you don't have experience and connections its hard to land one of the few JUCOs who have the talent to be high major starters, you're going to have a hard time landing them.

Highlight reel looks good. He was rated as the #317 recruit in the 2020 class by 247. Had only low major offers, mostly from local FL schools. Looks like he may have been underrecruited and went to JUCO looking to earn better offers. All about it if Shaka says he's a guy we need.

Very curious to hear Creans rap against MU in this recruiting case.

MU likely will have 1-2 spots to fill.

They are looking at
Kario Oquendo
Jordan Hall
Darryll Morsell
And Aaron Cook- a backup PG from Gonzaga who played at SIU.

I knew it was a Shocker and Burton's name was attached to Marquette at one time, I think, so I ran with it without doing research.  I stand corrected and ashamed of my laziness

Thanks for this.

Maurice O'Field was another we were close with. Picked Buffalo initially, then followed Hurley to ASU. We were also in on El Ellis just last year; he will start at Louisville in Fall.

Five Star PG Nolan Hickman decommitted from UK today. Wouldn't mind if we reached out.
