It's not even June.
Last year's first commit (Justin Lewis) didn't occur until the end of July.
The year before (Dexter) was in September.
Year before that (Joey) was in late July.
Year before that (Ike) was mid June.
It's still pretty early in the process.

But this is a different kind of year, and more top 150's have committed at this time then any other year in history. So many unknowns. MU never seems to be one that gets those early commits like a lot of schools do. That's not MU's fault by any stretch, there isn't much they can do about that, but it sure would be nice to have a kid in their pocket by now. I'm certain the staff feels the same way I would think.

Here is a list of hard 2021 commits.

Very interesting to see that Stan has 3 commits for LMU already. The more things change , the more they stay the same.

What's even more interesting to see...or maybe not is DePaul with two top 70 recruits..There's a reason Leitao hired Marc H$u.

You are 100% correct...but shouting it doesn't make it any more true. People NEED to accept this reality. Either that or they are willing to accept the true state of the program, that's sad.

One loss to DePaul is just that.

Your sarcasm is not impressive. Call it what you will, side step it, dodge it, whatever you gotta do to make yourself feel better. I will call a spade a spade and tell it like it is. Why people want to dodge reality sometimes is baffling to me.

Supposedly more top 150 kids are given verbal commitments than previous years. The experts aren't sure if it is the uncertainty of what next season will bring. No Summer AAU circuit or open gyms to improve their rankings. The restrictions of coaches recruiting off campus keep being extended.

I am wondering if most of these verbals are really soft. If things get somewhat back to normal players can make official visits. High school open gyms and games will give players to improve their stock meaning guys going the 2nd tier schools may look to the blue bloods, especially if top 20 kids opt to go to the G League leaving the KYs Dukes looking for players.

Just a real interesting dynamic in recruiting.

The G league is not looking for anywhere near 20 kids
You actually have a degree from Marquette?

No...and after reading many many psosts from people on this board that do...I have to say I'm MUCH better off, if this is the type of "intelligence" a degree from MU gets you. It sure is on full display I will say that.

I think to get an early commitment, you have to make a commitment that you will not sign another recruit at the same position. I would not expect a commitment from a 101-150 player, if MU is trying to recruit higher ranked players at that players position. MU offers an lot of players, which is good and bad.

Well yes, that's what I mean...MU recruits much higher ranked players than 101-150, and I actually wouldn't want them to commit(if MU offered), until after they have gotten decisions form the higher ranked kids...THOSE are the guys I wish they could get an early commit from. The longer those recruitments go, to me your chances go down. Like i said, there isn't much MU can do about it, kids decide when they want to decide..but other schools get early commits from high ranked kids, I just wish that MU could/would sometime. It makes you feel a whole lot better knowing you have at least one of those highly ranked kids wrapped up early.

I am pretty sensitive to the type of usage you appear to be calling out, but I am not aware of that phrase being associated with any derogatory meanings/implications. (obviously, the word "spade" is odious when used racially).  Does it have that history?

Here's a little test anyone can give oneself before using a phrase like "call a spade a spade" or a word like "niggardly":

Would I feel totally comfortable using it in a conversation with black people?

If not, stop using it.

Oh great, now garden shovels are racist?

No, it doesn't.  I think 82 is getting the racist version conflated with the garden tool version.
The truth is incontrovertible. Malice may attack it, ignorance may deride it, but in the end, there it is.

Calling a Spade a Spade means blunt and to the point. The rest of the world is not so politically correct that they don't understand what Mr. Guru means.
