That was my point.  Looney committed before the first final four season, in fall of 2013.  I thought it was laughable.  I was way wrong but no one saw Kaminsky becoming a NPOY.

Nah, a toothache would have taken #5 out of the final four.

;D
You actually have a degree from Marquette?

Quote from: muguru
No...and after reading many many psosts from people on this board that do...I have to say I'm MUCH better off, if this is the type of "intelligence" a degree from MU gets you. It sure is on full display I will say that.

Forget the crystal ball, 247 doesn't show Marquette has being involved with either Mac Etienne or Trey James.  It's recent with James, I know, but aren't they supposed to be a source?

Honestly, 247's recruiting pages are terrible. There are tons of guys MU has offered and are involved with for 2021 that 247 doesn't even list MU for that particular player. It's really ridiculous when you are supposed to be a national recruiting source. Rivals is no better in that regard either

For certain players I have found  Verbal Commits to be a good source. They enjoy taking submissions  and have a nice format , for example it  shows some of the other players at the same position being recruited by a particular school . Not perfect by any means. However, for certain players  Verbal Commits was much more informative during the recruiting process.  Darlinstone Dubar was a good case in point, the kid had a lot of very high quality offers  but was very lowly ranked by 247 and Rivals primarily because they hadn't invested time in him following him and only showed the junior year offers. The kid did well in the UAA two years in a row and his stock rose with the schools. Ended up going to Iowa State, and his final player rankings moved up significantly after he committed when all the facts came out.

Exactly. A 6'8 kid in your own backyard offered by the likes of Maryland, Fl St, and now Georgia.  A kid who made a huge leap last year from what I've read and highly likely only scratching his ceiling. And if you're not in on these kids early with offers, you're probably not getting them.

I'd gladly give Dukie blonde boy a pass on this if he had a successful track record at MU, but he has none, and this becomes another reason to throw on the pile this guy is clueless what needs to be done to win at MU. At Duke you can ignore local up and comers, our program specifically needs guys like this.  Not only for what they bring, but what the next local kids can do for MU

My guess is that Wojo knows a bit more about the situation than we do.  He's usually pretty good at these things.

I think he has on the recruiting side.  He's done fairly well.

Bench coaching has obviously been more of an issue.

Has he at high school recruiting?

Yes. Joey, Henry, Dawson and Markus at the time of commitment were significantly higher than all but Vander and JJJ that Buzz brought in. Not to mention our first two MCDAAs in how long? Couple that with highly touted guys like Sam, Bailey, Sandy, Haanif,  Symir, Lewis and Osa then you have a good recruiter. I'd take that squad over Junior, E Williams, Maymon, J Jones, Vander, Juan, Steve Taylor, D Wilson, JJJ, and Burton both after 6 years.

Keeping them In the program to get old and their development is the issue where he hasn't earned my blind trust.
Retire Terry Rand's jersey!
