I know there would be some uneducated types around the country who might ask why MU might be his top choice, but it makes a ton of sense. Anybody who has watched the kind of freedom Wojo has given to his main guard can see why MU would be an attractive spot.

Honestly, this is why I think Marquette should be pushing for Emoni Bates too. It seems like top programs are dismissing Mane because they think he'll go pro, but if he doesn't, he could be a coup for Marquette because they got in and got serious early.

Similarly, many top programs haven't pursued Bates because they think he'll go straight to the NBA, but that rule hasn't been approved yet and if you can get another Michigan kid to come across the lake, is there anyone better than the #1 prospect at any age level? Sure, he might go to UM or MSU, but I think you at least have to make that effort, especially when you've already made inroads in the state and been competing and winning recruiting battles there.

Spoke with Top-50 senior Karim Mane. He tells
@Stockrisers
that DePaul has extended an offer to him.

In addition, Michigan State's Tom Izzo will visit with Mane in Canada on Friday. The Spartans have yet to offer him.

ESPN just rated him 25th in the recent 2020 NBA mock draft.

The big programs may have initially shied away from Mane because they thought he'd go pro.  If it becomes a known thing that he's going to college, Izzo won't be the only HOF coach who comes knocking.

Given he's Canadian and doesn't have (I would assume, don't want to sound ignorant) the same level of appreciation for Michigan State's program consistency over the last 20 years, I wouldn't be AS nervous recruiting against Izzo here.  Whereas Mane would be a perfect replacement for Markus given his style of play and usage, and our pace under Wojo is much more in-line with what Mane has expressed an interest in.

There's also a Cassius size hole opening up at MSU. Don't get me wrong, I like that we've put in work early, but there's no such thing as an "easy" recruitment battle against Izzo.

Wonder how our old friend AJ Hoggard feels about being recruited over before the ink dries on his NLI.
Maybe the same way as Jalen Terry.

Rocket Watts will fill that hole.

Talk to Junior Cadougan about Canadian players playing for Marquette.

Warrior Code

I still think Rocket Watts is a great name for a hooper. Makes me think of great old school nicknames like Dr. J, Magic, Earl the Pearl, Spud, etc.

Don't forget about Richard Shaw - a 2018 inductee in to the Windsor/Essex County Sports Hall of Fame.

Was mainly said in jest.  Just trying to spice up the thread, but don't want to be nationalist.
The more important thing is probably Hoggard and Watts already waiting in the wings.

No potential one-and-done should play for Izzo.
