Verbal commits shows them with one(it's updated with their commit tonight)

Interesting. My bad if I am off. Big fan if true, but still likely that Xavier leaves after this year.
Assume what I say should be in teal if it doesn't pass the smell test for you.

Am I alone or are many scoopers going nuts waiting to hear about Davis’s decision?

Obsessively searching for info. Seriously.

I wasnt doubting you, I just like to go to the source because there is often even more information than a poster tends to give. When people don't site the source it can become a pain to find.

The lady giving the interview DID give RJ as an option but Caleb did not hesitate and said Zaire

Yes.

Who knows what and when RJ will decide.  Maybe he's made his decision already.

Having RJ Davis complete his visit to UNC without a commitment got us past the immediate danger zone.  The news out of Pitt re scholarships is encouraging, if not definitive.  Pitt signing an unranked developmental type player for what might be their last currently available scholarship does suggest that they are concerned about not burning a scholarship which suggests that they are not encouraged about getting Davis.

I don’t expect Davis to make up his mind until after Thompson decides where he’s going.  If Thompson heads to UNC, that’s decides it for RJ, if not I still think that we’re in good shape.  It may take a little time for the glow of the UNC visit to fade, but I think the assessment he seemed to make after his visit here will reemerge.
You actually have a degree from Marquette?

No...and after reading many many psosts from people on this board that do...I have to say I'm MUCH better off, if this is the type of "intelligence" a degree from MU gets you. It sure is on full display I will say that.

Just to clarify Pitt's scholarship situation, they DO in fact only have one remaining which is expected to be filled with the commitment of John Hughley later this week. However, they are recruiting as if at least one more will become available for next year, so yes, they are planning on over signing.

To pretend Capel wouldn’t find space for RJ if he decided he wanted to go to Pitt is delusional. A “full roster” will not be what prevents RJ from choosing Pitt.

That being said however, what kind of message does it send to your top target that "We currently don't have a scholarship available, but don't worry we will get it all figured out, we still want you"?? If he's your top target(and he is for Pitt), you should be 100% certain you have an open scholarship available for him...I mean, wouldn't that just seem appropriate??

I’m sure they have explained to him how it would work out.  If he committed, they won’t cut bait with him because it’ll hurt them in the future with all kinds of recruits from various places.

They current have a specific belief that Xavier will enter the draft after this season. They are recruiting to fill that gap.

What an awful feeling for the players on the team knowing your coach over recruits and you may be eliminated.  Pitt is not a good place to be.

Or they already know where they scholarship will come from because somebody is going pro.......

I didn't like it when our coaches over signed in the past ......but if let's say Wojo had oversigned because Henry had made it clear that he was leaving after his freshman season then you can understand it or Crean had oversigned because Wade told him he was leaving before his 2nd season started then it makes sense.

So context matters.

I doubt seriously if this will impact RJ one way or another......

Agree with you.  Does anyone know if R.J. will schedule a formal or informal announcement?

If he does select NC,I hope it works out for him.I compare it to Quentin Grimes when he selected Kansas over MU even though Dotson was already committed to Kansas.

Really feels like we’re gonna get Davis and Garcia...or we get neither and we have to hope for the best with who we have plus 2 projects.
