A number of recruits who have made official visits to Marquette are still out there. Those likely represent Wojo's top targets and our best possibilities.

Right now, only 40 of the Class of 2020 recruits in ESPN's top 100 have committed. And one of them (Justin Lewis) has already committed to MU. That's the same number of commitments that schools such as North Carolina, Arizona, Michigan State, UCLA and USC have at this point. It's still pretty early in the game.

Don't forget about grad and traditional transfers, either. Since 2016, we've had eight players on the roster -- Luke Fisher, Katin Reinhardt, Andrew Rowsey, Harry Froling, Ed Morrow, Joseph Chartouny, Koby McEwen and Jayce Johnson -- that we didn't land out of high school.

Let's see where things stand in another month or two. Until then, we're getting a very incomplete view of Marquette's recruiting picture.

I don't disagree, but there is a tendency to judge recruiting classes purely by rank and before the players even step on the court.  Now I'd obviously take higher ranked players more times than not, but at the same time, even knowing that we'd only get one year from Henry, that 2015 class was labeled "stacked", and it hasn't quite panned out that way with the "lowest" recruit (per 247) having without a doubt the best impact on the program.

Totally true.

Wasn't symir in this class too, technically?

I agree I don't want Wardle, but given that you're never happy with anything Wojo has done, who do you want coaching at Marquette that would realistically take the job if Wojo's recruiting class in 2020 is not a "home run?"

My guess is you'd be very disappointed by those who would realistically be available to Marquette.

What Marquette needs to do is find the next Al McGuire.  But... how many NAIA coaches are there who have gone 6-19 and 6-18 in the last two years?
You actually have a degree from Marquette?

No...and after reading many many psosts from people on this board that do...I have to say I'm MUCH better off, if this is the type of "intelligence" a degree from MU gets you. It sure is on full display I will say that.

For better or worse, Buzz was the closest to Al with the all the quirkiness and media savvy nature etc.

The fan's obsession with Al is probably unparalleled amongst any other program that reached their high point under a coach.

"The next Al the next Al" i wonder if Arkansas are clamoring for the next Richardson, Dayton their next Donaher, UConn their next Calhoun, Florida their next Donovan.

It's not like we're the only program to reach the high point and lose it but man we have a ridiculous obsession to the point where we expect the coach and players to mimic the personalities of the 70s guys.

That being said let's get back to recruiting?

IU has a huge Knight obsession but I don't see them clamouring for the next hot head throwing chairs across the floor and choking players. There's people on here who'd need to change their underwear if there were reports of a coach getting into a fist fight with a player, riding a motorcycle, and dishing out witty insults to other top coaches via reporters

That being said 5min in Bloomington or Storrs is 5min too long if MU isn't playing there.

I'm guessing they are clamoring every bit as much as many Scoopers are, and in some cases probably moreso.

Ah ... recruiting. I remember that discussion. Thanks for going back there, M92. Still many months away from knowing how well Wojo has done in this department this year.

I'd say the Alabama football fanbase was more than a little obsessed with "the next Bear" for a couple of decades. Soon enough they'll be able to obsess over "the next Saban." (Dabo?)

Anyhow, I do generally agree. I'm sure I'm missing someone, but at the moment I can't think of a program that's wrapped its entire identity around a single person quite like Marquette.

Osasere Ighodaro continues to maintain a 100% Crystal Ball for Marquette. However that's because there's only one prediction, made by Mark Miller on August 12. I continue to refresh, but that hasn't changed.

***Obligatory Cristal Bowel reference, even though this is the time when it might actually mean something***

Crystal Ball always has significant meaning.  Maybe the most important recruiting factor out there.  Typically very accurate.

Crystal Ball is ridiculously accurate......... about 30 mins before a player commits.
