Recruiting news and discussion week in review.  July 16 – 22nd.

In case anyone needs to catch up and doesn't want to wade through the ridiculousness...  I've eliminated the offtopic posts and arguments (unless the arguments directly relate to a recruit).

Okayyyyy well let's talk recruiting then! I will let you start...what's going on right now?? Have I missed anything?? Has there been any commits??
That's the point isn't it?  If there's no recruiting news, why are you, or anyone else, mucking up this thread?  Take it to another thread or start a separate one.  Shouldn't be that difficult of a concept to grasp.

Seconded. Hoping we hear somethiing about Lewis soon.
Assume what I say should be in teal if it doesn't pass the smell test for you.

Thank you for stating what should be obvious, but apparently isn't to all!

Awesome.  Given the crystal ball predictions and now the announcement coming soon, hard not to feel good about it.  Would be a nice start to the class.  Hopefully it goes as expected.

Has he taken any recent visits to other schools?

While Lewis' rankings aren't 5-star, I'm really optimistic about him if we are able to get the commit. He's been involved in USA basketball since he was outside the top-100, now seems to be a consensus top-100 player and is one of 18 in his class selected for the Team USA camp coming up.

He hasn't made a USA team yet, but they are bringing in 20-25 players in the class (he was one of 23 in 2018) and he's at least well regarded enough by those coaches to keep considering.

Of the 18 2020 prospects, 247 lists 12 of them as 5-star, top-25 players. 5 more are ranked between 29-44. Only one is lower than that, Justin Lewis at 74. But he's been part of these events for years since he was in the mid-100s ranking wise.

Maybe he's just a middling top-100 prospect. Or maybe he's underrated and the Team USA staff sees something the article writers at ESPN, Rivals, and 247 are missing. I'm hoping it's the latter.

For context, here's the ranking list per 247:

4) Jalen Johnson
7) Ziaire Williams
13) Jalen Suggs
14) Isaiah Todd
15) Daishen Nix
16) Walker Kessler
17) Isaiah Jackson
19) Sharife Cooper
20) Bryce Thompson
21) Cameron Thomas
23) Nimari Burnett
25) Caleb Love
29) Adam Miller
32) Dawson Garcia
38) Dalen Terry
40) Moses Moody
44) Jabri Abdur-Rahim
74) Justin Lewis

Excellent news.  Looking forward to seeing how our class of 2020 shapes up.  Lewis would be a great start to it.

This would be a fantastic, fantastic pick up from Wojo. Love his game, based on youtube videos.

Would be very nice if Lewis committed to Marquette and then started working the relationships with the other bolded names on this list.  Talk about a heck of a class that would make...

There not going to get Suggs and Burnett, maybe 1 if lucky or maybe Davis.  It least there on some kids, they do work hard recruiting.  I wonder
what these kids think when they see the Fiserv Forum for the first time?  That has to be a big selling point.  For Lewis playing time has to be a
big reason, has to be for Dawson as well.  Getting Lewis early helps.  Hope he has some friends!

Earl Tatum

Previously mentioned---R.J. Davis, Jalen Suggs, Coleman Hawkins,
and Lance Ware. What a dream.  No. 1  is Dawson Garcia.

I think Marqfan22 is asking because tia thread is getting downright unreadable.  Hey mods, just give those who can't stick to recruiting news and questions a TO. maybe we can then get back to an actual thread on recruiting.

That is correct.

muguru

If they get Lewis and then can pull two of Garcia, Burnett, Suggs and Davis...I would be absolutely freaking through the roof ecstatic. Wojo lands two of those, plus Lewis, I could care less what he did with the 4th scholarship.

Phew. Made the final 12. And you all said Wojo can't recruit.

I estimate our chances of landing Burnett are approx 8.3%

Good programs, but not the most intimidating list.

Agreed. Louisville and Arizona stand out, UCLA and Oregon are tough to beat for west coast kids, but no one that I think is unbeatable.
