This will happen in the next evaluation period, so expect Marquette coaches to be present every minute they can.

I'll be curious how this goes. Only 18 2020 players, seems like the demand for guys like Burnett, Garcia, Lewis, and others we're in on could get notably higher. Surprised Emoni Bates (2022) isn't going to be there.

Unless he reclassifies  Bates isn't going to college.

This is still a Team USA camp. Plenty of pros end up in that system. And that's assuming the NBAPA agrees to a change that shortens the careers of their members.

I know that's how Silver wants it, but it's not done yet, and as you note reclassification is a possibility.

Alabama is the only surprising team perhaps in this list. Duke was able to get a commitment from Jalen Johnson at a similar position. Chris Carrawell has been the lead recruiter for both players as well as Caleb Love and some others

Amazing Carrawell is pulling in top recruits like that. He was virtually non existent(recruiting wise) at MU.

If you’re inferring that Duke is a dirty program, then they must’ve been dirty while Wojo was K’s top assistant.  Wojo was involved with the Duke program in one way or another for twenty years.  It’s not like he took the Marquette job and Coach K immediately breathed a sigh of relief and said, “Thank God he’s gone, now we can finally start paying players!”

Just to add to Fletcher, Johnson etc...

Nicolet will be returning to the Highland Shootout this upcoming season, and, they will be facing Cam’Ron Fletcher and St. Louis Vashon. It’s a really nice annual event in Highland Illinois about 30 miles NE of St. Louis. Always sells out. Sussex (Waukesha) Hamilton and Patrick Baldwin is also playing against St. Louis CBC and Caleb Love. DJ Steward and Chicago Whitney Young will be facing St. Louis Chaminade.

These are the matchups:

Over a dozen plus top 100 players.

Highland G v Greenville G
Highland B v Triad B
Tolton v Mater Dei
DeSmet v Collinsville
Mehlville v Trinity
Whitney Young v Chaminade
Nicolet v Vashon
CBC v Sussex

You and I could recruit to Duke, not to hard right now.  Almost like Al did at MU in the late 60's and 70's.  Had the pick of the best players in the
country, particularly from Chicago and New York, and throw in a player like Maurice Lucas from Pitt.  Wojo is all over the place, to bad he can not
get another player or two from Michigan with 3 on his team right now, you would think that would help.

When did Duke become a one and done factory?

It started when Wojo was there. He recruited Jabari Parker to Duke.

Not to mention Kyrie Irving and Austin Rivers who proceeded Parker.  Not sure of Wojo's involvement, but he was certainly on staff at the time.

I think Duke doesn't pay players. I think Duke makes it very obvious how players can get paid once they leave.

I think Kyrie and Rivers can be counted as a bridge to modern duke but there was a huge difference between those duke teams that were one superstar freshman and a lot of program players vs the modern duke model which is Kentucky with a different name on the front

OK I can buy that.  But I don't think that means that all of the sudden they were paying players.

Yup.  Duke's recruiting is very different now than what it was when Wojo was at Duke.  Coach K was very vocally against one and done factories until the Winslow/Okafor/Jones team won the national title.

I think Duke doesn't pay players directly. I think guys like Lance Thomas and Marvin Bagley make it obvious that money gets into the pockets of Duke players even if it's not directly from the University. I find it highly unlikely they don't have a ton of shady dealings to get the players they do, and I also find it highly unlikely it wasn't already going on during Wojo's tenure.

The recruiting picked up when Capel came back.  Not sure if he was arranging for pay, but he was lead on a lot of the big time recruits.
