From Evan Floods article on David Joplin 2021 SF from Brookfield Central. Currently no ranking on 247 but that will change this summer when they update the 2021 rankings:

"Joplin has early offers from DePaul and UNLV. He says he has the most contact with Marquette at the moment.

"They're just looking at me and watching me," he said. "I've been to a few games. It's a nice campus. The atmosphere is great with the new building."

Joplin said he didn't grow up a fan of either Marquette or Wisconsin. The Badgers are expected to get involved with Joplin at some point and have watched him in AAU and high school settings.

"They have a nice offense," he said. "They have really good players who play hard and they're coached well."

With Julian Strawther deciding soon and with his pick unlikely to be Marquette (layman view but seems like the writing is for Zags or Washington), we currently stand in on the following recruits:

2020:
Nimari Burnett (Wants to take a visit soon per recent articles)
Dawson Garcia (Officially visited)
Dain Dainja (Stan is basically followign him around)
Jalen Johnson (pipe dream, but he's got an offer)
Reece Beekman (I guess?)
Daishan Nix (Recruiting: Nix' recruitment includes Kansas, Gonzaga, Marquette, Maryland and TCU as of March 2019)
Jalen Suggs (there is an offer, but if Strawther ship sails, I imagine this one may too)
Justin Lewis

Let me know if I missed any or some have gone stale.
Assume what I say should be in teal if it doesn't pass the smell test for you.

Garcia and Dainja seem to be the most likely out of that group. Would be great to get both to go with Torrence.

There are others, such as Andre Jackson, who is either a current or former AAU teammate of Torrence's.

I'm pretty sure we're still in on Ethan Morton (as of February, he said we were one of 8 or so schools pursuing the hardest).  He has said he'll decide in the summer or early fall.

Any chance you could give a little synopsis of any Marquette talk?

Basically says the top three schools after him are Michigan State, Iowa State, and Marquette.

There's a pretty solid quote:

QuoteClose to home, the Marquette Golden Eagles are working hard to keep Sibley home, and he feels like it would be a good option.

"It is amazing having the best team in Wisconsin after me," said Sibley. "I like how they play, and they are telling me they love me as a player and they want me, so that is good to hear."

He managed to work in subtle jab at the Badgers. Makes me like the kid more.

Thank you.  Great quote.  He's not wrong.  I think the only hope to get Johnson is Sibley comes to MU and Jalen decides he just wants to stay home and play one more year with his buddies before becoming a millionaire.  I liked that Johnson basically said he likes the style of play and pitch every school is giving him, and then for Wisconsin just said it was home to him for almost his entire childhood and the love he'd get from the fans would be cool so he'll consider it.

So both Phelps and Gainey were on Arizona's Staff.  Both were at MU with Wojo right?

Gainey was here but was DBO. Never a coach

So when will we have meaningful recruiting news?

If I'm not mistaken the Dead Period ends Friday at noon so coaches can recruit this weekend.

I hope soon. Seriously. I need some sort of news that doesn't involve most of the topics here.
