People keep saying that. I'd feel better if we were at least making final 4, 6 or even 10 lists. Looks to me like 2019 recruiting so far has been a waste - lots of offers to top players, nary a nibble.

I don't think our fellow Scoopers are actually celebrating being eliminated early.

I think what they mean is that it's better to be eliminated before spending considerable resources recruiting a player who wasn't likely to attend MU anyway, with the most precious resource of all being time.

Wojo has yet to give me any reasons to say, "Wow, we sure do need a better recruiter."

Watched some video of Dexter Akanno who Marquette offered last week and I'd honestly take him in a heartbeat. He may be one of those overlooked players because he plays for a non-shoe affiliated AAU team and didn't play at a high profile school in the Los Angeles area near Santa Clarita.  Can play either guard and has a great body to build on.

What sold me was the way he handled himself in a video with Steve Nash and the way he took to coaching.  Can't overlook that.  Getting Ivy League looks and will play at Blair (NJ) Academy next year, so academics are a plus.

I really liked his videos as well.  Stong with both hands, big and strong, tough, nice stroke.

Not surprised about Williamson. After the unofficial, I didn't see any mention of our coaches at his games.

With him off the board that leaves Nico Mannion as our only big fish left for 2019. He's supposed to be cutting his list soon and I'm not feeling us making the final cut.

Beyond Mannion that leaves these guys as active targets:

Dexter Akanno
Dahmir Bishop
James Bishop
Seth Lundy
Caleb Mills

Any one or two of these guys would be solid. It is a bit disappointing, I knew 2019 was going to be hard to recruit for due to the lack of playing time. The good news is we can afford to sign a freshman who will need a year or two to develop, but I was hoping we could land a big fish like Carton or Wilson to really make that team a serious title contender. I think we land one of the guys above and hit the transfer market hard next summer. 2020 is really gonna be a make or break class if we are going to keep up any of this momentum we seem to be gaining.

There is a good chance we can get both Bishops on campus for an official.

Mills off the board.  Committed to Houston.

For once I think gus might be right.
But in all reality is this not one of the stranger recruiting summers, as far as nobody has a clue what's going on?

Could really use a BD update but I suppose if there's nothing cooking then not much to share aina?

I don't understand what you mean when you say nobody has a clue what's going on.
what's going on is Wojo and company are going after some very big fish and they have decided not to come here.
Whether that is due to playing time or depth chart, the reasons for not choosing MU we do not know.

One of the things about a deep roster that isn't going anywhere soon is that recruiting takes a hit for everyone but the blue bloods.  A couple of guys are going to be very fortunate to play on some outstanding MU teams these next couple of years hoping to blossom fully as upperclassmen.  It's all good.

If we miss out on them for this reason, then I wouldn't want them here in the first place. Players that are afraid to compete and be pushed to improve are not the players we want.

What I meant was nobody except the coaching staff has any idea where we stand with the recruits. It's not that deep

True. The coaching staff certainly knows a lot more than scoopers when it comes to where we stand with recruits—and I believe they too are misled or read the recruitment wrong or were passed over by another team, etc.
I don't know if that's strange—seems to almost always be the case.

You aren't wrong, that's always the case. If we get one or two 200 Or better recruits this year I'll be happy. 2020 now that's a different story

We also have officially offered Michael Foster of Milwaukee Washington per Evan Flood. Top 5 player in 2021 class.
