Would we still be in the chase if he's still a 2019 guy? I thought one of the primary reasons we were pushing so hard was to get a solid PG for next year?

At this point we are either getting a grad transfer PG or no PG for next season IMHO. I don't see us chasing any late bloomers in the 2018 class....though I suppose late decommits could still happen. Most likely we are going to need another PG desperately in 2019. Whether or not we will still be in the race is an entirely different question. Guess it depends on how these first visits have gone.

Also, while I will take the kid at his word for now, this would not be the fist time a high school kid made a declaration on social media only to go back on it a week or two later.

Yeah my guess is that he was looking at 2018 but couldn't swing it.

Then here's hoping Porter Moser leaves and Clayton Custer wants to move an hour north

jsglow

Pretty definitive statement.  I'll move him to '19 on the chart.

Grad transfer can fill the gap year.

QuoteSince I opened it back up the schools that have reached out the most are Florida State, Marquette, Ohio State, South Carolina, Florida, of course Georgia too. North Carolina has talked with my AAU coach, but not with us.

Interesting that Georgetown isn't mentioned.

I will be shocked if we do not add a pg for next season......grad or some other fashion we have to add one.....and I think we will.

We're still in for DJ Carton, Rocket Watts, and Mario McKinney in 2019, so I'm sure they would still be in for him as a 2019 PG option.

Appreciate the update.

You're welcome. Others have mentioned Mark Smith transferring from Illinois. His high school Edwardsville lost to EJ Liddell (21 and 10 for Liddell, dominated) in most refent playoff game. Illinois has been recruiting Ramey, among others, as mentioned.

I know there are a lot of factors at play in recruiting, but you'd think if Ramey would have Illinois on the short list that we'd be able to make a pitch that would entice him. Unfortunately, I haven't seen MU mentioned in any Ramey stories for a few months now.

I understand that he says, in his own words, that it is "not true" that he is reclassifying.  Big Daddy said that his reclassification would depend on what the opportunities are.  Either the right opportunity wasn't there, or he's playing his cards close to his vest.  Still lots of time for stuff to happen.

<<The other thing is that people were saying that I'm reclassifying to 2018, but that's not true. I'm staying 2019.>>

Mario McKinney and defending small school state champion Vashon fell to St. Mary's 83-70 in front of a sold out crowd of 3,000 plus that lined up as early as 3pm to get in the gym.  Mckinney had 21 points, 11 rebounds, 4 steals.  Lots of talent in that game on both sides. Vashon has zero seniors. Talented junior point guard for St. Mary's, Yuri Collins, had 19 points, 11 assists, and 5 steals.

Belleville West and EJ Liddell overwhelmed Quincy, 66-33 and advanced to the round of 16 Illinois large schools Friday night vs Moline. Liddell had 20 points, 9 rebounds, 5 blocks and 4 dunks through 3 quarters.

Courtney Ramey plays tonight.

Just to follow up, Chris Holtmann (Ohio St) Cuonzo Martin (Mizzou) both saw Ramey's Webster Groves team advance to large school quarterfinals last night. 93-79 over CBC. Ramey had 21 points 11 assists 4 rebounds. South Carolina visited this week and Ramey went to Mizzou v Arkansas game last weekend.

Mizzou (Cuonzo Martin) and Texas (Shaka Smart) saw Ramey's large school quarterfinal blowout win this past weekend. (26,8,8) Assistants from Illinois and Oregon also in attendance. His Webster Groves team will play Liberty of Kansas City in the large school semifinals next weekend. (St. Louis Chaminade) will play Columbia Rock Bridge in the other)

Anybody see the article in MJS yesterday on what we passed up in Herro?  Might be last chance to see this dude and his 33.3 PPG average tonight at NB West against Pewaukee.  But I've heard the joint is sold out.

That game will be over by 7pm.  Can still get over to NB West then as it starts at 7pm.

Good thing you're playing in the game then Tyler, so you won't have to worry about getting a ticket to get in.

Probably a Herro family member so be sure he doesn't see the Froling Dismissed thread.

So you go to Whitnal?  Makes sense.  If you went to Whitnal, and now go to MU or already graduated from MU, this makes no sense.
