Eric Bossi tweets that we have the last visit.....let's hope he takes them all

Official visits for five-star @qdotgrimes Texas (9/22), Kentucky (9/29), Kansas (10/13) and Marquette (10/20)

If we are indeed the last visit, I like our chances.  I am also a little happy to see he won't be there for "madness".

I would take the Rick SLU program right now.

As long a second he MAKES that visit I think we are in decent shape. However I am nervous about the fact that he never gets out of Kentucky or Kansas. But wooo hooo! Grimes! Name change time.

TheREALwrk

Real question here - is it really advantageous we get the last visit? I like to think there is a recency bias, but there's also the possibility he falls in love with someone else first. Don't think that will happen though, as he stated he wants to take it slow and seems like he likes the courting process.

I like it.

Getting on the visit roster is a good thing. By that time we will have a lot of intelligence on what the other schools are saying and doing.

I would imagine, living in Texas , Grimes has a point of view about UT that is pretty firmly developed. He is going to have to assess his role at Kansas and Kentucky. Kentucky is pitching that he will get better in practice playing against good players. A kid may not necessarily buy in to that theory. The mother went to Kansas so there is some familiarity there.   We are probably somewhat of a mystery to the whole family and I think the potential for an upside surprise is quite good in that regard.

The parents come on these trips,so when we bring out the top guns from the administration it will definitely be a selling point to them.

I suppose LeBron strolling around the Al during the visit would be kind of cool.

Gonna be sweating bullets until 10/15. But if we make it there, I like the odds.

Solid snooping. You gotta believe that Wojo is working to arrange a "funny bumping into you here" moment with Jabari and Jae. If Jae can get his new buddy Lebron to swing by too....all the better.

Portland is there on Saturday as well. Why not have Dame join the fun?

5-star 2018 point guard Quentin Grimes sets visit to Marquette
The highly touted point guard will visit MU in October.
https://www.bigeastcoastbias.com/big-east-recruiting/2017/9/15/16316772/marquette-golden-eagles-basketball-quentin-grimes-2018-official-visit

It is important to note that October 20 is also the last of the scheduled visits. MU will have to hope that neither Texas, Kentucky nor Kansas make a substantial, impressionable impact on Grimes that is enough to make him commit there.

Quentin Grimes is one of the top point guards in America. He ranks 4th among his peers in the class of 2018. That group of course is headed by Duke commit Tre Jones. Uncommitted point guards Immanuel Quickley and Darius Garland rank 2nd and 3rd, putting Grimes in elite company.

Grimes is a modern day version of what Glenn Rivers was in his youth. We should have Doc chime in on some recruiting calls.

Based on this comment here is a scoopers' guide to where we want other guards to go:

RJ Barrett: #1 Overall, #1 SF: Down to top 5 including Kentucky. CB currently for Duke.
Romeo Langford: #5 Overall, #1 SG: Down to top 7 including Kentucky and Kansas. CB currently for Louisville
Immanuel Quickley: #8 Overall, #2 PG: Down to top 3 including Kentucky and Kansas. CB currently for Kentucky
Darius Garland: #9 Overall, #3 PG: Down to top 6 including Kentucky and Kansas. CB currently for Vanderbilt
Keldon Johnson: #13 Overall, #2 SG: No list yet. CB currently for Texas (Kentucky in 2nd)
Devon Dotson: #26 Overall, #6 PG: Down to top 8 including Kansas. CB currently for Kansas.
Ayo Dosunmu: #27 Overall, #3 CG: Down to top 11 including Kansas. CB currently for Illinois.

So Langford/Quickley to UK, Dotson/Garland to KU, and Johnson to TU. Let's make that happen.

Quickley and Garland both on campus at UK this weekend.

He was a member of the board of trustees. Now he is listed as an emeritus trustee. I don't know if that technically still makes him a part of the university or if he is a "booster".  Would be good to know that answer.

MSU got slapped on the wrist for this kind of thing. So the NCAA is watching .

You are absolutely correct, it would be good to know!  Though...........if you were Doc, on the BOT, in the administration, Wojo, or on the coaching staff you would be be very much aware of those rules.  I have no idea what those rules are but I trust they do know them and are abiding by them.

Can we solicit one of the posters who've never said something nice about Marquette to recruit him?

Mr. Sand-knit.  If buzz was still coach, Chico's would qualify.
Luke 6:45   ...A good man produces goodness from the good in his heart; an evil man produces evil out of his store of evil.   Each man speaks from his heart's abundance...

If you are a donor, you are a booster.

So for those of you who are annoyed by the solicitation calls from those earnest young students, I just gave you a new excuse to use: "I'm sorry; I can't donate because I want to be able to  contact  basketball recruits."
Have some patience, FFS.

Ugh! Where were you when I was donating that measly $50 to the fund to build the Al?  I probably wouldn't even need caller ID at this point
