No matter what Joey does we just have to hope the fan base doesn't do anything stupid with Sam and piss him off...I am good with where the team is at right now and I think we have a good plan in place in either scenario. Joey would be icing on the cake but hopefully no dopes start going off on twitter with Sam and piss him off

I mean, we haven't a big recruit to them in quite some time. I don't have a lot of confidence that our fans wouldn't do the same
We booed the daylights out of Joe Wolf when he returned for the NC / MU game in the 80's.

7th worst ending of game in my 4 years at MU (other 6 were ND losses).

That was the day Marquette basketball officially died.  Thankfully a short death and we were brought back to life by Kevin O'Neill on Saturday December 9th, 1989 with a 80-68 win over Notre Dame.  of course we start to walk again until 1992-1993.

I firmly agree with 4everWarriors.

The Marquette basketball program I knew from 1964 to 1977 died March 11, 1978.

We took a bullet to the brain that day. It's nearly 40 years later and it still sends shivers through my soul that we ever could have lost that game. Even with bad officiating, losing to Miami of Ohio is, in today's terms, like North Carolina losing to Coastal Carolina, Murray State or Mount Mary College. It's like Indiana University losing to IUPUI-Ft. Wayne!

We laid unconscious for several years through Hank, Rick and Bob the Pianist, until we were reborn in 1989. The problem was we never dealt with the perpetrator. We allowed the problem to linger until basketball almost became extinct.

It's Father Wild who should be in the Marquette Basketball Hall of Fame for making the university commitment to ensure our team was on the road to becoming a national powerhouse again. We've had fits and starts but we're headed up.

I guess Wojo is not taking anything for granted. Have to work twice as hard as the big state schools.

Remember watching that game in the Union. Brutal loss and we began the slow and steady descent from that game.

This seems to be Wojo's response to Bucky's "you're our only 2018 recruit" strategy.

We were in a coma for 8 years, losing to UNC was when the plug was pulled.

I was at North Carolina game and we had those bastards by the neck. The Miami game started the demise and Carolina was the dagger. Don't
forget Mike Deane another so called genius recruiter. O'Neill was known

Seems like a smart response. Interesting that Bucky is spending about as much time on Herro as Hauser. Well, rather that Gard is. I would think Herro knows they are also after Hauser, so why would they need to watch him so closely? Maybe the Herro commit isn't quite as firm as it seems.

I think you're over-reading and I'd be a bit surprised if Wojo is truly at all of Joey's July eval period games... but, if he is, I take that as a concerning sign.

I'll be in Vegas Thurs/Fri and parts of Sat... for Joey's games I'm at, certainly will keep the board updated.

D1 Minnesota going on in town this weekend... a couple of 16U guys with MU or potential MU interest I'm trying to view...

I liked this comment:
Sounds like Bo Ryan chasing Diamond Stone.  That worked out well

The only way Bo saw Stone every day in July was if Stone was working at a golf course.

I think that's his intention. This won't be an easy recruitment and Wojo will go all out until he finds out one way or another on Joey Hauser.

Whoever MU signs in November/April  will be part of a top 10-15 program going forward, so I have confidence he'll find a good option either way.

I would be amazed if Grimes committed to MU. Beating schools like Kansas, Arizona, Baylor and Texas is no small feat. Having a big, skilled and versatile guard like Quentin in the backcourt might even make a better complement to Sam, Ike, Theo, Jamal, etc. than Joey would.

Marquette Hoops tweeted this link and said Marquette is in the mix for a visit.  Still a long shot to land Grimes but worth a shot with only one scholarship open.
