Someone will willingly transfer between now and a year from now.  I guarantee it.  If not, and you have the chance to land a top 50 recruit, you tell the 13th man on your roster to find greener pastures.

I think that you are confusing Scoop discussions and reality.  The former never is required to be rooted in the later.
You actually have a degree from Marquette?

No...and after reading many many psosts from people on this board that do...I have to say I'm MUCH better off, if this is the type of "intelligence" a degree from MU gets you. It sure is on full display I will say that.

I am confusing nothing.  Handwringing over the last man on the roster if we find a better option is silly.

I would take the Rick SLU program right now.

Rising to the bait even when there is no bait to rise to.....

If you could get out of attack mode for a moment, you'd see that I was basically saying that very thing.

What about my post was "attack mode"?  You're too sensitive.

Butler also had an offer to Kentucky when Billy Clyde was their coach. Not exactly the same as an offer from Kentucky today.

That wasn't nonsense.  Butler did have an offer from Kentucky.  I think people don't understand what a scholarship offer actually is. It's not a job offer.  It's closer to an interview offer.

How does this usually go down? I guess I knew an offer wasn't really an offer but I am curious. "Here is your offer, your are #4 on our list. Once #'s 1-3 sign LOI's else where then we will offer you a scholarship? Has to be a little awkward..

A not inconsequential amount come back engaged and/or  change their commitments. That is a fact. Check out some of the recent quarterback history at Brigham Young for an example. A good friend of mine had a kid who was part of all of that drama. Nothing wrong with getting married or going on a mission,  but there are unique challenges involved for schools that take a kid on a mission.

We have to philosophically keep recruiting as if Brendan Bailey is still in play and needs to reconfirm his commitment again next spring.

Wojo and company are taking that attitude. As is evidenced by their hot pursuit of both Jeenathan Williams and Joey Hauser  with only one scholarship left as well as certain cryptic comments by Stan.

It seems MUFINY won't be happy unless Bailey ends somewhere other than MU.

Jimmy was a late commit. He didn't announce (or rather fax) until mid-April. At that point, schools are looking for the best remaining options. He was one of the top remaining JUCO players so he got interest. I don't think he was waiting on anyone.

We still have to hope that young Mr. Bailey did not find Mrs. Bailey while on mission. That kind of thing happens a lot.

I have never been a college athlete (though I'm killer on NCAA Football 14) and I've never been a recruiter. My understanding is that is more of a symbolic act than actually going into the details of how solid the offer is. Everyone involved is aware that the kid just can't announce he's committing without talking to the coach first. That's where the awkward conversation might happen if a kid is ready to commit but the coach is waiting on someone else.

It is a very straight forward thing.  An offer is an offer. A true offer is explicit and actionable. The shelf life of the offer is not necessarily always permanent, once players start committing to offers. Nothing is binding till NLI signed.

Sometimes players and their families, who have not been through process, misconstrue strong indications of interest as offers.

In some cases players will hold out committing because they have some school they are waiting for. or their stock is rising and they think better offers are on the way.

Some players and families will lock an offer down and commit early in the process. Matt Heldt a great example of that.

I don't know how hard we are going after Carlos Curtis but we should try and go after him. Kid is a straight killer, he is very underrated, class of 2018 6'3 PG/SG/SF

I think we have bigger fish we're trying to fry in 2018 and limited space in the frying pan.

There is nothing to indicate that this is the case.

Right now I want:

For real, though.  If GE32 is Carlos, we'd love to have your passion for MU on the squad, man! And it looks like you can fill it up a bit.

But if you get that D1 offer, go kill it somewhere and see what happens.  A couple good years and maybe MU comes calling!  Best of luck to you!
