Awesome!  There's our traditional transfer!
You actually have a degree from Marquette?

Quote from: muguru
No...and after reading many many psosts from people on this board that do...I have to say I'm MUCH better off, if this is the type of "intelligence" a degree from MU gets you. It sure is on full display I will say that.

So was Giannis.  Coincidence?

Bingo!

Just thought it was odd, given the circumstances of Archie leaving and I don't believe Dayton is on Spring Break.

Maybe. But when your a multi-millionaire, if you decide you want your little brother at your game, you can afford to fly him home for a weekend.

Another interesting transfer.  Marcus Evans from Rice.  Averaged 19.0 points, 3.7 assists and 3.3 rebounds per game this year as a sophomore.  Shot 37.6% from 3.  Looks like another really interesting name from a mid-major to go along with Mike Lewis II.

He is an interesting name. Offensive juggernaut but defensive turnstile. Will find a home at a high major somewhere. I don't see us reaching out to him.

One thing I like to look at when it comes to players is their comparables on Pomeroy. The first two names for Evans are Damian Lillard (2010) and Elijah Brown (2016). I believe those comparisons always look at players in the same year as the player in question, so for Evans, it's looking at those guys sophomore seasons. Pretty good company.

Yah, was wondering about his defense.

You know anything about Mike Lewis' defensive abilities?

Better than Evans. Wouldn't call it good. Lewis and Evans aren't that dissimilar actually. Similar skillsets. Both are better at offense. Evans better at O but worse on D. I would say Evans is significantly better overall but Lewis has three years left. I could see us going after Lewis.

This would make me happy.  Kid looks like a lot of fun to watch.

From the highlights I have watched, he looks like more of 2G than a traditional point. Similar game to Rowsey.  I assume he primarily played the point at Duquesne.  Fair assumptions? Probably for both Evans and Lewis?

Would take him in a heartbeat. But he's from Virginia and his HC just took the VCU job. Bet he looks there or somewhere else in the region (for instance Buzz has Texas roots & coaches in VA...)

Evans is a score first PG. Lewis is a 2G. Could he learn the point? Maybe.

Top 100 recruit Jemarl Baker is asking for his release from Cal. Known as a very good shooter.

No idea if we've had any interest, but he's a west coast guy (LA area) so figured I'd mention him. Maybe Stan has some connections.

Interesting tweet from Darren Wolfson:

So far, there haven't been any reports of Wright asking out of his NLI from Dayton. Based on the tweet, it seems that this could all be through backchannels, but it makes me curious that it seems two Big 10 schools have (now) publicly reached out and attempted to recruit a player who is currently not just verbally committed but signed with another school. Certainly seems like this would be illegal.

Apparently McKinley is waiting to decide what he wants to do, based on whether or not the assistant that recruited him is promoted to HC or not.

I would be delighted if we could sign Jemarl. I saw him play he is an excellent shooter and of course he has a solid neck.
