Has anyone seen Elliot play?  Is he equal to or better than our current players?
He is a total pogo stick of a Detroit city league player. Will be an excellent player in the Big East someday.

Have seen him but wasn't watching for him. Nothing stood out, but don't take that to mean anything other than "I've seen him play, butam unable to Forman opinion"

Have you considered other adjectives? Maybe a jumping jack or spider monkey?

The first scouting profile for Alexis Anetokounmpo/  Giannis is very high on Alexis' skills, therefore we should take a serious look at him for MU.

Missing out on local talent is a mortal sin in the recruiting game.

JB, curious what you thought of the game tonight? Admittedly attending my first HS basketball game since probably 2008, I was underwhelmed. I thought John looked solid. He is going to have a bunch of put backs next year. He would definitely see minutes on this years squad. Thought his size really affected what looked like to me like a pretty unimpressive Armstrong squad. Had a couple sweet dunks and really nice pivot, spin move, dunk on Thompson in the first half. Will probably immediately be one of our more explosive players next season.

Race Thompson looks like a nice prospect. A little bigger than Theo, but didn't necessarily play like it. I'm guessing this wasn't a great game for him, but even so, would love if MU could land him. John, Joey Hauser and Thompson would be a mean front line in 2020 (Froling a senior too), but realize that's a reach.

I found it crazy to think that Champlin team hasn't lost all year. I wasn't all that impressed. McKinley Wright looks like a chucker who doesn't know how to drive. Continuously took the ball to the tin only to be stuffed. Was shocked he didn't involve John more in post. He probably ended up with 25, but I just didn't think he looked like a high major talent.

Having Cain visiting when Elliott is on his official was a smart touch.  Theo John can't hurt either.  Leveraging a current friendship and building a new freindship is solid recruiting.
You actually have a degree from Marquette?

No...and after reading many many psosts from people on this board that do...I have to say I'm MUCH better off, if this is the type of "intelligence" a degree from MU gets you. It sure is on full display I will say that.

HS ball in general - I don't watch a ton of it; whereas (depends on the year, but in general) I watch quite a bit of spring/summer and even fall ball. It's like when I'm playing lunch bball at the office -- we've got some really good players, a ton of mediocrity and some weak players (e.g., me). Can be tough to gauge players, especially bigs if they're able to post up guys 6 inches smaller than them all night (nh).

Armstrong is 'OK'. Theo's offense was a lot stronger than usual tonight - 21 points is not the norm for him. Of course, a lot of them on putbacks, but had the nice dribble, spin (travel?) from the left elbow against Race that you mentioned... ran the floor and was rewarded a couple times... will be interested to see how much his offense develops at MU. See him as a ~16% usage guy early on. Some mean, nasty dunks but you're not going to run the offense to him. As you saw, which was the norm, even CP doesn't send a ton of balls to him in the post as a normal part of the offense.

Defensively, yes.. physical presence, he's a concern for people coming into the paint no doubt... in that regard, I think he can help right away... come in, be physical and a warrior inside on d.

Race is very interesting to me. I don't have him far behind Joey, and they are similar in their versatility. Race will often defensive rebound and put the ball on the floor / take it up the court... similar to what you would see Henry do... he can handle the ball, shoot from outside.. but also use his body to post up down low.. versatile offensive threat... didn't have a great game last night, but when he's on.. look out. I always look at his dad (nh), who was there last night... just massive.. obviously an NFL guy is usually gonna be built.. but, with Race's frame.. it's not difficult to imagine him being one strong & nasty son of a gun in his later college years. Add it with the ball handling, passing (good eye, and usually makes several smart and crisp cross-court passes to spot up shooters when he gets doubled every night), range on his shot... super intriguing for me. Cannot wait to watch him alongside Matthew Hurt next month! (Matthew played 17U, Race 16U w/ Jarvis Thomas last year)

McKinley was in the same program (D1 Minnesota).. he's an interesting kid and I think Dayton is a great spot for him. A couple years ago, had him on the fence of MM vs HM... at Dayton, I think he's in a nice spot. He's short, but very strong and relentless. You don't see small PG's rebound like him.. and he did it in adidas play as well... his shot has gotten better, he can attack the rim... distribute the ball, run the offense... nice PG.

For MU, last year Traci's DR% was 9%.. that's Rowsey's this year.. Markus is at 10%.. Kin should be at least 12%, but would probably project him in the 12%-14% range... obviously depends on coaching instruction / game plan, but he'll be able to get rebounds in college... despite the size.

Hey what did Pritzl have for breakfast this morning?

On Herro.. knees been a problem for a long time. Probably good he's finally getting it worked on. Sounds like he should be back within a couple of months, perhaps as little as 1 month.. could he be back for initial EYBL weekend? Perhaps...

We R Final Four

JB--if kid signs high major offer is it common to continue to play AAU all summer? If so, is it just to stay in top basketball condition? Seems to me if you signed at your dream school that you wouldn't need/want to travel and play in summer tournaments across the country. Your work to get the scholly is done, no? Only reason I guess would be to influence on the recruits?

You generally cannot sign until after your senior year starts up, so that final year of travel ball you haven't signed.

What you have are tons of kids who have verbally committed to schools. And the norm is to continue playing. Very common to see kids in the gym warming up with their college school shirts on.

For many kids, travel ball is important for scholarship purposes... but, the fact is these kids are going to play basketball every day no matter if they're playing high level travel or if they're sitting at mom's house and running to the park or gym... travel is the much better option. Their friends are there, their team is there, the competition is there... I don't see reasons to stop playing travel ball unless you're legitimately injured and need to shut down basketball activities for awhile.
