After last nite, did Texas jump to the top of his list?

For Kon, i see it pretty clearly as
1. Virginia
2. Duke
3. Marquette.
Then Bama and Wisco

Did anyone hear anything about the Matthew Hodge visit? That visit happened and went by kinda silently.

Usually a quiet visits are "meh" but sometimes they go really well

Our players hosted him for a Hodgepodge of activities.

Maybe the Hamilton commitment changed things.  Total speculation on my part, but with one open spot, two commits, and Oso and Kolek both having to make decisions after the season, it might be Kon or nothing.

See how things shake out after the season.  Maybe Shaka looks to the portal in the spring.

If Shaka is looking into the portal this spring, especially if they are talking to more than 1 player. Then multiple things have gone wrong.

Both Kon and Hodge were still targets in mid august after Hamilton committed in late July. They might not be pushing for a commitment as hard, but they are recruiting them and having them visit.

Or a bunch of guys leave to pursuit pro opportunities... or other college opps bc of a logjam. Not necessarily a bad thing

Realistically, the max amount of guys i see leaving is 4-5, anything more than that without personal issues is unlikely.

If this team is amazing and we have 4+ guys pursuing the pros next year. Use resources for retention before going into the  portal and just try to recruit an additional freshman to the back end of the roster.

Relying on the transfer portal currently is poor resource allocation unless you are the coach of an SEC school.

Yes. This is obviously way too far down da road but if Marquette is an E8/F4 type of trip team this year I can see all of Oso, Kam, TyKo making a move to the next level, along with a few of the guys that get less run.

That said, it could be that Kam and TyKo garner more from NIL than the association, so who the heck knows.
Only Shaka will know really, and that's all that matters.

Either way, as is gospel, never stop recruiting

We have no projected first round picks (other than Viscene projecting Oso at the back of the first). I'm not ready to say 5 of our 13 are leaving to get paid next year.

BCHoopster

Something really to worry about in September, let's get thru the year, Shaka does not know right now who is coming or going.

Exactly. When we go FF our team is leaving....even backups. Wha?

Not worried at all.

If Marquette were to make the Final Four I'd be happy if all 3 of those guys got drafted.

Id be even happier if 1 or 2 returned.

I definitely wouldn't be in the least bit worried though.

Agreed. You're spot on. Lets enjoy the great team we have this season and our continued successful recruiting. Shaka's doing a great job.

From speaking to sources, there is a feeling that Virginia is the team to beat right now if he chooses to leave the state for college, if not Marquette is the team to watch

The Virginia writer also said it was Virginia and Marquette as the top 2 already heading into the visits.  So it does not sound like anything has changed through the first 3 of his 5 visits.

Who wants to play his style at Virginia, do they ever score more than 70 or ever fastbreak, about as exciting as Wisky ball.

Some guys want to compete in the 4th or 5th best conference.

Hopefully MU can get through this weekend without a Kon commitment to Duke.

Had a great visit to Duke and Virginia. Wanted to play with the VA players but rolled his ankle before they left for the official so couldn't. Duke says he is a player that fits their system. Duke site got the details from Kon's mom for both visits. Both visits confirmed he fit well with his potential teammates.

They plan to sit on it for a few days then talk as a family and hear his thoughts but wants to commit soon. They stated couple days to convo.

Overall nothing telling other than great visit, great teammates and will make decision soon. Would say a lean to Virginia over Duke.

Exact quotes

VA "It was great! We came for a game last time, so there wasn't as much time to hang with the players or see a practice. This time he was able to do both even tho we were there for a short time. He was supposed to play with the team, but rolled his ankle the night before we flew out."

Duke "It was a really great visit too. Watched a practice, hung with players, got to know the whole staff."
