In this one: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bBJNfdiGUCE it definitely feels like he keeps his head up and can look off defenders with the passing threat. really good awareness.

Thanks for that, Jake. He definitely looks like a score-first PG who also can make a nice dish. I like that. I also really like the ball pressure he applied. Very good at staying in front of his man. He even had a couple of blocked shots!

It's great to talk about building the right culture, and I am 100% for that. But, truth is, culture does not win games. This season, we did not have a single player on the team, other than Lewis and Morsell, who could have played any significant minutes at Villanova, Providence, UConn, etc. The talent gap between us and top tier teams was HUGE. Culture won't fix that, but talent will. Culture is very important, but you have to have the players.

Way to phrase it. You could just as easily said we had multiple guys who COULD have played any significant minutes at Villanova, Providence, UConn, etc.

Apparently you want a negative culture on Scoop. 8-)

He goes for 24, and 4 assists. A nice assist at 1:01:53

No I didnt watch the whole game. Like the old people used to say about the NBA, no need to watch until the 4th quarter.

Yet, MU beat Nova twice and was a missed bunny away from beating Providence twice.

So what you're saying is, two of our five starters are top in the conference ? Lol

Kolek and Oso would have likely started for Providence absent any bias from Coach Cooley. Heck, watson shouldn't have even started over Croswell. At the very least both would have been the first off his bench.

The missed bunny would have sent the game to OT.  It was not going to win it.

i don't disagree. However, the great thing about basketball is that a roster of 5-stars is not required to win in late March. Have 2 studs, one in the back court, the other down low...with the rest knowing their role and playing that role well can mean big wins. Heck, WI won a share of the BIG with just Johnny. Imagine if they had another prime time guy.

I believe. I believe that Sean Jones is the real deal. I think he'll lead Marquette to greatness. He'll be the transfusion of blue blood that we need to make the final four.

JWags85

One of my good friends is originally from Gahanna.  He's back in Columbus now and was furious that OSU didn't go after Jones.  He saw him in person a couple times this year and said he's the absolute real deal.  Super quick and strong when you see him play in person.

Who do we think his comp is? Poor man's Ty Lawson?

I mean,  I grew up 90 min from Gahanna, which prior to this recruitment I thought was in South Africa. I suspect he'll be a freshman, with a good chance of overachieving, and a great chance of underachieving.

wadesworld

If he's the real deal he'll be starting for us from day 1.

Really? I mean it's not a tiny hamlet and the airport is essentially in Gahanna.

And I didn't mean I expect anything out of him.  Just the kind of player he is or could be

Honestly, lived there until I went to MU (a long time ago now. '93 frosh), after that flew to/from CMH > 50 times. Never heard of Gahanna, OH.

edit: and to be fair, the small town in OH in which I was born (and has been shrinking), and not many people have heard of, is still bigger than Gahanna.

They list him as the D1 player of the year. I feel like some states have D1 as their smallest/lowest division. Anyone know what Ohio does?

The Sultan

There are 2,300 students in Gahanna Lincoln High School. It's not small.

A lot of small Ohio towns have big high schools, because all the rural kids end up in the city HS.  Again, my HS was similar in size.  One of the biggest in terms of student s (> 2000, and not a big town).

Got it. Thank you.

It's a suburb of the largest city in Ohio - probably a former small town school that has grown with the area. It's not some rinky dink town in the sticks.

As of the census[4] of 2000, there were 32,636 people, 11,990 households

As of the census[3] of 2010, there were 33,248 people, 13,037 households

I see preliminary 2020 census number in the 35k range.  Clearly blossoming into a metropolis  :-\
