Yeah, why would we want guys like Chet Holmgren, Paolo Banchero, Jabari Smith, Kendall Brown, TyTy Washington, AJ Griffin, etc.?  Clearly they aren't helping their teams, as Gonzaga, Baylor, Duke, Auburn, Kentucky, etc. are nowhere to be found in the rankings.  I'll take our guys because, well, CULTURE!

I mean, come on.  We'll sit here and in one thread say "we need upgrades at every position," and then in another say, "is he a one and done talent?  If so, PASS!"

I'll take the Tyus Jones's and Jhalil Okafor's of the world and you guys can try to beat me with your Tyler Kolek's and Kur Kuath's and let's see how it goes.

Don't know what's wrong with you people. Get the best talent into the program asap and let Shaka do his thing. Its nuts to think you wouldn't want a  5-star McD all-american because he may leave early. Y'all that content with mediocrity? Nah man, beat da chit outta opponents, aina?

OK, I'll amend my comment to add:

If Shaka really wants a player, whether he's a 1-and-done or a 3-star, I want that player to choose Marquette.

Given Shaka's comments, which reminded me of Jay Wright's after the Quinerly deal, I'm not sure how many no-doubt 1-and-dones he'll go for.

But maybe he'll go for lots of them, we'll land a few, and we'll be the next Duke/Kentucky/Gonzaga. That'd be wonderful!

And TAMU, thanks for the info on Skyy not necessarily being a 1-and-done.

Juan Anderson's Mixtape

I checked out some highlights of the last two guys mentioned in this thread.

Adou Thiero didn't really impress me. Some raw tools but looks like a project.

Then I watched Skyy Clark highlights and it was night and day.  He needs to improve his defensive stance and improve his decision making a bit, but I saw the makings of a future pro.  Thick, A- athlete, very good shooting form (even on misses), solid handle, solid passer, and can play with speed.

It might take two years to get there, but Clark has NBA potential.  That said, the competition to get Clark will be fierce. It would be a great recruiting win if Shaka pulls it off.

Then Shaka will have passed his first test.
Assume what I say should be in teal if it doesn't pass the smell test for you.

Sounds like Skyy Clark is seriously considering the pro route.

Wouldn't surprise me.  He's good enough for G League Ignite.

As a board that psycho-analyzes EVERY little thing, we're really not gonna discuss Justin Lewis commenting "Don't Leave Me" on a Greg Elliott Senior Day appreciation post?  Lending credence to him possibly staying another year?

Or because it's not some damning evidence that he's guaranteed to leave we just don't bother.

I definitely noticed. Justin staying confirmed (also, Half Life 3 confirmed).

Which means it's a confirmation of something. This is scoop--wild speculation as concrete facts or GTFO.

5 star guard looks better than a 3 star who has grown 5 inches in the past year. I am stunned

They were likely in Justin's room playing 2k and Greg said he had to leave to his room then Justin said "don't leave me"

The 3 star guard didn't look as good as the other 3 star guards on our roster either.  Or Chase Ross.  Or the wings MU is recruiting in 2023.

It's just a first impression of limited action. I will keep looking, but so far I am skeptical.

There is no official offer yet. It just seems like someone they are keeping tabs on, he pretty much is the only freshman they are interested in right now. Might change with more decommitments and coaching changes.  I personally think they will end up with 1-2 transfers instead. But who knows if he might just going to keep growing. I read his dad is 6'9" and his mom is 6'4"

Skyy Clark is highly regarded, but is another PG.

I think Kolek/S. Jones/Stevie are pretty well served to be our PGs moving forward. I know Shaka likes positional versatility, but the name I'm most interested in is Zeb Jackson.

He had MU in his Final 7 before choosing Michigan. Now that he is in the portal I'd love for Marquette to be in on him.  We are losing Darryl and likely Greg so there is a need at Shooting Guard with only Chase Ross and Kam Jones filling that spot next year.

Zeb is a 6'5" (ANOTHER LEFTY!) SG that can really light it up offensively with the wirey frame to have potential defensively.

Really hoping MU makes a run at Zeb again, this time with Shaka.

Really was not a factor at Michigan, what makes you think he will be at MU?  There will be lots of movement with players in the next month,  will he be the best out there?  They really need bigs particularly if Lewis leaves.

Never got a shot at Michigan.

He's was a Top 70 guy out of high school and now he's a few years older, and a few good pounds heavier.  Elite scoring ability.

Plus Marquette has open spot as is even if Lewis stays and no one transfers.

That's what I thought.  Worth monitoring, especially if goes to prep school. (No idea if he's considering prep school, just speculation on my part.)

You can play 2 PG together as long as one of them has size.  Sean Jones is the only short PG of the group, so I don't see a problem.

Very unlikely that Clark comes to MU, so probably a moot point.

As for Zeb Jackson, I liked him in HS but he did absolutely nothing at Michigan for 2 years.  I'd hope for a more immediate impact transfer.

So you would take Skyy (who hasn't done anything in College) but not Zeb (who has had limited minutes in College)?

Zeb is bigger with a better jumper.  Seems like a perfect fit alongside the 2 distributing PGs and Kam.
