Sorry, Guru, it looks like the Carter Whitt boat is leaving the harbor, too.
You actually have a degree from Marquette?

Quote from: muguru
No...and after reading many many psosts from people on this board that do...I have to say I'm MUCH better off, if this is the type of "intelligence" a degree from MU gets you. It sure is on full display I will say that.

Marquette added another Mitchell CB prediction overnight, this time from Chad Lykins. He's a Duke reporter, but hasn't missed a CB prediction this year.

'Twould be sweet indeed to snag an all-PA first-teamer who was a state champ out of Nova's back yard.

Uh oh.  The perfection that is the 247 Crystal Ball vs. the ghost Brett Roseboro.  Let's hope the former wins out in this one.

DONE DEAL. That will never get old.

Regarding Mitchell - 4 star recruit.  Decent schools involved.  Would seem to be a good get for the staff.  Have to think the Hunter ship has sailed - probably through combination of his stock rising and MU being slow to offer.  Reminds me of the Kris Dunn recruitment.  MU was Dunn's dream school, and Buzz was slow to offer thinking he'd get Gabe York.  At least in this case we get a good prospect in Mitchell.

Or maybe the staff liked Mitchell more? They offered him a lot sooner and seemingly recruited him harder.  He and Hunter are essentially rated by the services at the same level. So there could be a lot of reasons why, but it seems pretty clear who they prioritized. Of course, this all assumes Mitchell commits- these are just predictions at this point. Not yet a "done deal".

It does seem the staff has made it a priority to add bigger guards the past few years, and Mitchell fits that profile more than Hunter.
Including transfers, MU's backcourt additions the past couple of years have stood 6'3" (Symir), 6'4" (Dexter), 6'2" (DJ), 6'5" (Perez) and 6'4" (Kameron Jones).

Is it confirmed that Mitchell is announcing today? I thought I saw that somewhere yesterday

Initial thought as well.  He looks like he has a Big East body for a guard.

I have seen Hunter in person, like him alot, really quick, watched Mitchell, not as explosive.  Rather have Hunter, but with a roster that is always in flux, good
to get another commitment.  Hunter said MU was his dream school, then why did he not commit already?

Because he can be wined and dined by other schools for another year? An opportunity he really hasn't gotten to take advantage of yet due to the current pandemic.

Or because even if MU is his dream school he still wants to do his due diligence and visit other schools in case he finds a new dream school?

Or because he wants to take more time to see what rosters will look like before he commits so he knows what kind of playing time he can expect?

Or because MU being his "dream school" really meant that it was his top school at the moment but there were a lot of close seconds?

Or because he hasn't found the right background song for his commit video?

Or a million other reasons

Carton was ranked much higher than Stevie is and Carton looks to be better in a number of areas (athleticism and shooting stand out to me), but from the tiny bit I've seen of Mitchell he seems to play a similar style as Carton.  Crafty both off the dribble to get into the lane and also finishing in the lane.  Finish strong for a guard, and don't have a problem mixing it up down low.  Kameron's and Jose's games seems somewhat similar to these two as well, from what I've seen.

A very quick guard would be nice to add to the roster.  And a knock down perimeter shooter, to go with a quality big.

Or because we took our good sweet time to offer and by then he had offers from programs as good or better than ours.

Dodds announced on Twitter that Mitchell committed. I don't think that's accurate at this point.

This happens all the time even if we had offered him two years ago.
