I think at this point it is down the Marquette, the draft, or playing overseas. Suspending recruiting only stops one of those three options from making any pitches.

Is the ban on all recruiting? Or in-person recruiting?

Ahhh....I didn't know it was full stop on all recruiting.  I just thought it meant no in-person visits, whether that is on campus or in-homes.

I would take the Rick SLU program right now.

I believe you can still can still call, write and text recruits.  Dead period.

Mane has heard our pitch. He knows what we are offereing.
Does not reiterating the same pitch really hurt us?

Since Oso has a "running" 40 inch vertical, it got me wondering what Ners's was back in the day??

It was 39" back in the day Guru. Sorry for the delayed answer.  8-)

GooooMarquette

I have a 12" vertical these days. I'd show you all, but I don't want to risk putting my back out again.

He just can't get himself to stop thinking about them a really really lot.
You actually have a degree from Marquette?

Quote from: muguru
No...and after reading many many psosts from people on this board that do...I have to say I'm MUCH better off, if this is the type of "intelligence" a degree from MU gets you. It sure is on full display I will say that.

MU reached out to Louisville grad transfer Darius Perry.

He and 5 other guys who average 5 ppg will fill MH's spot nicely.

@jakeweingarten: Georgia, Marquette, Wichita State, all have now reached out to UNLV graduate transfer Jonah Antonio, he told @Stockrisers. Xavier offered yesterday. https://twitter.com/jakeweingarten/status/1240043973210771458

Yikes on the last few names we've been mentioned with. You want to talk about a possible bare cupboard at guard next year.

When Antonio transferred from Mt. St. Mary's, I thought he could develop into a solid role player at a high major. He did make 90 3Ps as a FR. Unfortunately, his time at UNLV was not inspiring. If a high major takes him, they are hoping that by dropping him to 4th or 5th scoring option he will become an effective 3P specialist....personally wouldn't bank on that.

Perry was the starting guard for a top 10 team this season. I don't think he's a world beater in any sense of the word, but he's shown an ability to perform at this level.

This will also be a slow developing transfer market. There's only ~80-90 available grad transfers at the moment and most of them are going to end up at low majors or dropping a division. COVID-19 is putting the brakes on everything. Plus, there's the possibility that all transfers will become immediately eligible this offseason which may mean some players want to wait and see what rosters look like in a month or two.

Could he be any worse than Koby?

9.5 ppg, 5.0 rpg, 3.2 apg, 0.6 spg, 2.8 tpg? Yes we could do a lot worse than that. Koby was maddeningly inconsistent and really hurt the team during the collapse, but there was talent there. I still think most of Koby's issues were mental, and if he can get them fixed, he will be a pleasant surprise next season.

Koby is just not quick enough, maybe he needs to lose some of that muscle, and become quicker.  He definitely lost his confidence, maybe he can come back better but I would not be banking on him to being MU's point guard next year.

I believe Kobys numbers made him appear less bad.  The worst thing about koby is he crushed our offensively fluidity.  Even when he wasnt making mistakes the ball stuck in his hands n he was an inaccurate passer, both of which allowed the defense to recover.  He was far worse fir us than his numbers indicate, our offense bogged down with his non-intuitive PG play.
Sy had alot of Freshman issues but it didnt take but  about 1-2 trips up the floor to see what he has relative to Koby in regards to running an offense.  Koby at PG next year will be another disaster.
Im pretty sure our coaches realize this.

I think you'd admit you're being overly kind with that stat line

94 ORrtg was just gross, with 21 usage.. 41.2% eFG is almost unthinkable... wonderful defReb% of 17%.. assist rate of 21% is fine.. 26% turnover rate -- just putrid... 1.1% steal nah.

His stats were awful. Per game is nearly meaningless and greatly distorts the reality ... which was bad.

I have some** hope for a turnaround though. But, the numbers are what they are. And they are pooooo poooo

Oh I am 100% being generous. But I stand by the statement, we could do a lot worse than Koby. If he entered the grad transfer market right now, he'd be one of the top 5-10 available grad transfers at the moment. Those hoping for a magic fix at the PG position from the grad transfer market are likely going to be disappointed. I'd expect Koby and Sy to be running the show. If Koby is here next year, the only way I don't see him playing 20+ minutes is if we land Mane and Sy takes a huge step forward.
