The #6 player in the country calls Marquette his hometown team and that hed definitely be interested in playing here...then goes on to say that MU hasn't really reached out. Interesting

Marquette offered him more than a year ago.

Lots of offers are extended for every class.  But apparently he's not a priority according to Foster's comments. He had an unofficial visit last August.

You'd think they would be all over a local kid top 10 nationally. Seems bizarre, but we don't know everything I suppose

Lots of rumors about the recruitment.

What's being said? It is noteworthy that only few high majors are in pursuit, so maybe there's very good reason MU isn't being aggressive.

My guess is there are bags involved.

Well after reading that wojo should go hard after the kid

thebigjake

Could very well be the handlers making demands that the player has no knowledge about.  That would explain his confusion, cuz there is no way our coaches would avoid a top 10 player in their backyard for no reason.

What is holding up the offer?

What is holding up the offer?

Honestly, I think the hold-up on the offer might be because Wojo knows he would commit right away, and that might block some bigger fish.  Tyrese told me point blank (I teach at St Cats, so I see him frequently) that Marquette is where he wants to go.

I think it's silly.  If you know a top 100 kid wants to be here, get him an offer and get him signed ASAP.  Of course, I am a little biased.

Im thinking u are probably right.  Atop 100 already committed makes it tougher to get that top 25 or top 50 kid.  Its Wojos gamble hopefully he manages it properly

Seems kind of similar to Duane. I'd be happy to sign Hunter.

Also would be to lock up an in-state recruit. That stuff matters.

Also another reason why NOT to boo your head coach during intros. Recruits go to the games....

at least our coach doesn't get boo'd off the court after beating a top 25 team like the vadgers

We have had the discussion on this site many times before as to what the definition of an offer is. A lot of recruits and their families put out social media posts indication of interest that they refer to as "offers".  Many times these are not truly actionable in that a recruit can actually accept the offer. Some kids have people around them that actually understand how the recruiting game is played by coaches and thus don't advertise indications of interest as an "offer"

The good news is MU is actively engaged in the recruitment and evaluation of Tyrese and ,if an actionable offer does materialize ,it will be because they believe he has the potential to be a Big East caliber player.

I have felt for some time it is good for MU to have local talent on the roster.

Duane was considered a better shooter.  Woj likes lights out shooters everywhere.
You actually have a degree from Marquette?

Quote from: muguru
No...and after reading many many psosts from people on this board that do...I have to say I'm MUCH better off, if this is the type of "intelligence" a degree from MU gets you. It sure is on full display I will say that.

Executive decision made.  If you want SaveOD, you can let Tyrese know that he's officially on the Scoop recruiting chart!  That'll get Wojo off the dime for our future Warrior.

Reminds me a bit of the Kris Dunn situation. Buzz held off thinking he was going to get Gabe York. Dunn's stock continued to rise, York went to Arizona, and can't recall who got that scholarship.

Was a recent Tweet that Kentucky is starting to get involved with Tyrese. Bird in hand metaphor seems to apply, yet also don't mind coaching staff feeling confident enough to hold off. But. A gamble.

I think Buzz also botched the Jeremy Lamb recruitment in a similar fashion.
