If he doesn't choose Marquette, does it mean he got paid by the school he did choose?

If it's Kansas, Arizona, Duke, LSU, or Baylor, like just about every player that's played there in the past few years, very likely yes.

6'10" guard? Really?

That threw me off too.

A little research says he's a 6'9" 180lbs PF

Has offers from : Pepperdine, San Diego St, Nevada, UC Davis, Grand Canyon and UC Irvine.

These kind of late offers are what have me a bit concerned. I mean...whether it means anything or not, he doesn't have any great offers to be honest.

THIS...I mean don't get me wrong, I totally understand in recruiting you have to cast a wide net..but doesn't it make anyone wonder why they have offered some of these guys relatively late in the game?? Especially a kid like this?? It's almost like they are saying "we'll take anyone that wants our offers". It just makes me nervous as far as what it potentially means for their top targets.

Didn't Kawhi Leonard go to SDS? Didn't Nevada have a top 10 team last season?

Should have passed on Wade considering he didn't have any good offers.......ditto for Gardner.......

Just stop Mark...every single time...It's uncanny with you, it really is. I'm 100% sure in all my years on MU boards and seeing your posts, I have never seen you say a critical word, not even a minutely critical word about an MU Coach, player they are recruiting etc. To you, everyone's a good choice for a recruit, right?? Can't you ever just call a spade a spade for once in your life?? It would be really refreshing.

I am actually very enthusiastic about the direction our recruiting is going now. It appears we are now moving down the pecking order and focusing on kids who may have significant upside. Yes there is some risk, but this is the area where we can get a disproportionate reward if we choose correctly.

Yes I want all the four stars  names that have been previously thrown around too and we need to keep pursuing them hard. I just feel that MU can come to these recent names from more of a position of having something good to offer .

1. Yes

2. No, 20th AP, 23rd Coaches, 27th Pomeroy.

3. Wades offers were limited more by his academics than his athletics.

What other others besides this top 200 kid have you concerned? IIRC, all our other recent offers have all been top 120 type players. I can think of one other outside the top 200 but we are also recruiting his 5-star teammate and best friend.

Where did Ja Morant get offers from?

Really?  So every time we offer a recruit ranked around 200 or lower with no programs of a similar stature to us in the mix, we can say, "Well, maybe this guy will be the next Ja Morant."  That's like hoping to win the lottery.  It's pathetic.  Looking for a needle in a haystack is not the way to build a successful program.  If that's our recruiting plan from here on out, we're in trouble.

They aren't looking for a needle in a haystack. That description is idiotic. They are looking for up-and-coming players. Which happens all the time.

In reality no one here knows if this is a good idea or not. Could be the next Sacar. Could be a bust.

That's not what I said.

I'm merely trying to say that just because a player has non-blue blood offers only, doesn't mean he isn't talented or can't be successful at the high major level.

When Wojo can take a kid ranked as low as a Jarrett Culver was, and show he can develop him the way Beard did, let me know.

No. Absolutely not. Hell no. You don't get to applaud that line of thinking when you are the same person begging for those types of players:

Quote from: muguru on June 10, 2019, 06:59:13 AMWhen has it ever happened for MU where they bring in a kid like a Ja Morant?? So under the radar, yet, turns into an absolute stud??

This is where your schtick is revealed as bulls#it. You go with the whiny "why can't Wojo find a diamond in the rough, we need one of those" bitchfests to "how dare they recruit under the radar kids?" You want to know why people give you grief? Because you're a complete hypocrite who can't handle the slightest bit of adversity.

If any recruit isn't the greatest, they aren't good enough. Had we had Ja Morant, you would've been complaining that he wasn't Dwyane Wade. And had Scoop been around for Wade, I'm sure you'd be complaining that he wasn't Michael Jordan. You can't have it both ways.

Shooter McGavin

Thank you for pointing that out Brew.  Very circular in his logic.

Great news.  Would be great to lock him up.

Can someone please let me know whether I should want the blue bloods getting involved or if I should want him to not be good enough for the blue bloods?

We want the first thing. Until the first thing happens in which case we want the 2nd thing. But we also happen to hate the 2nd thing. Make sense?
