I also felt we missed out when Shaka turned us down and was disappointed when we got Wojo instead.

But 4.5 years in... I'm really glad we ended up on the "losing" end of the whole affair. Our arrow is firmly pointed north and Wojo is a great institutional fit. He's been patient, the administration has been patient, and it's paying off.

I always thought Texas was a poor fit for Shaka, honestly.  I get why he didn't end up coming here (and, in long-run, was probably best for both parties).  Texas' former AD went out and got two non-Texas coaches for the two big sports (Smart and Charlie Strong); Strong flamed out quickly, whereas Smart appears to be a much slower decline.  Had he waited out VCU, he could have easily had his pick of Louisville, Florida, NC State, Pittsburgh, Georgia Tech or UConn, which all would have fit his coaching background and experience better.  Smart had zero ties to Texas, but what it is Texas I guess.

I hope the recruits in the building enjoyed the show.

Do we know who was in attendance?

Good analysis which I agree with. Now back to recruiting - any recruit slaps of five that were especially notable!?! Neck size comparisons!?! Did they have the proper color t-shirts on or would that be impermissible!?!

I don't think I saw this list out there, but in light of pulling out a tough win in an awesome environment, hopefully it made an impression. Knew about Garcia, but not the others. Per Ben Steele's twitter:

Outstanding.

Some good Shaka stuff here. I don't want to gum up the recruiting thread any more than I already have here. I like to poke fun at everything, including (especially!?!?!?) Shaka.

I'll leave it alone ... for now!

Looking at the responses to the Ben Steele tweet on recruits who were there today, it appears Desmond Polk was also in attendance.

Good grief. Badger fans are so arrogant. It's the typical..."Wait, how could he possibly consider MU if UW has extended an offer?" Hope Wojo continues to destroy Gard on the recruiting trail. 2020 is a big year.

I do have a good feeling about Dawson Garcia.

I definitely think Dawson would be a big piece for 2020. Hope your feeling is on the mark.
Assume what I say should be in teal if it doesn't pass the smell test for you.

Garcia was sitting a couple rows behind me with what looked like his parents.  They seemed to be enjoying themselves.  Jalen/Kobe Johnson and a couple other guys were sitting one row behind us and a few seats over.  FWIW we are in section 117

I was watching the Johnsons, they kept neutral. Didn't stand, but very very interested in the jumbotron action.

Marquette finally has a total sale right now in there program.  If Markus stays, which I think he needs to. to learn how to become a better playmaker, they have a chance to be really special next year.  Add the 2 guards sitting out and just maybe a grad transfer with some quickness at the 3 would be nice.  For the future, they have lots
of playing time after next year and that is what elite kids want to see.  Getting Torrence early is very important and the ability to spend all of your recruiting time on 2020
has to help.  Any word on Eke yet?  If he can not play, they will have lots of Scholys to give out.  Almost a rebuild, it will be interesting.

Markus and Sam coupled with Ed and Sacar would be big losses

But I sure hope a foundation of Joey, Theo, Bailey, Kobe, Greg, Jamal(maybe), Symir will have us in great shape should a few more quality guys commit.

I agree there is a good group of returning players,  Theo, Joey, Bailey, Greg and McEwen will be a good starting 5 with Torrence first off the bench but no
back-up center, no back-up forwards yet.  Need to sign at least 4 new players still.   Not sure where Eke and Cain fit, always fluid.  I do think Grad transfers will
know more about MU in the future and Wojo has gone that way, almost every year.  Ellenson has 3 years left, can he comeback now?  Just kidding.

jsglow

I did the Dawson visit update.  Help me with the p.1 chart fellas.  Let's remember the criterion.

Juan Anderson's Mixtape

I see no room for a grad transfer wing.  With McEwen and Elliott providing depth at the 2, Wojo can shift Anim to the 3 at times.

How did the Hausers do yesterday? There is always room for more talent.

If we go the transfer route, I think a sit-out big would be ideal. Ideally a freshman that would sit & have 3 years left.

There is always room for talent.  But I'm pretty bullish on the guys Marquette has next year.   I think pining for a grad transfer that won't be coming is foolish.

But, hey, knock yourself out.  Doesn't look like I'll be able to change your mind.
