Dexter is listed as a 3 star......#42 sg

About right then.  Times that by 5 positions and he is in the #250 range overall.  Hope he is a surprise to program.

Three-star recruits cover a pretty wide range -- from just outside the Top 100 to Top 250-300. I'm honestly not sure how much there is to distinguish between the #157 and the #234 recruit.

What I really like about Dexter Akanno are his size, athleticism, attitude (what I can gather from interviews, anyway) and pedigree. Former players from Blair Academy include Charlie Villanueva and Luol Deng, among others.

Dexter may not contribute immediately. But neither did Sacar, who became a starter and key player as a redshirt sophomore. I see the same potential in Dexter.

https://n.rivals.com/prospect_rankings/rivals150/2020

Since 2020 is a huge year for MU, here are the new 2020 rankings.  Herman's fascination pick, Desmond Polk is #137.
MU's lone commitment, Symir Torrence is #50.  Lots of offers for many top 50 picks out there.

Rivals did the 2019 rankings last week and MU's lone signee, Dexter Akanno not listed, presume he is still ranked in the #350 range.

MU has been connected to:

#3 Jalen Johnson
#14 Jalen Suggs
#17 Daishen Nix
#20 Isaiah Jackson
#22 Johnny Juzang
#25 Marjon Beauchamp
#26 Nimari Burnett
#32 Dalen Terry
#34 Keon Johnson
#35 Dawson Garcia
#37 Julian Strawther
#38 Cam'Ron Fletcher
#39 Caleb Love
#41 Dain Dainja
#43 Jabri Abdur-Rahim
#44 Ethan Morton
#50 Symir Torrence
#57 Jaylen Clark
#59 Bryce Thompson
#61 DJ Steward
#62 Jamari Sibley
#69 Isaiah Cottrell
#73 Lynn Greer
#85 Justin Lewis
#89 Reece Beekman
#137 Desmond Polk
UR Shon Robinson (3 star 29th PF)
UR Darlinstone Dubar (3 star 46th SF)
UR Gabe Madsen (N/A)

Any chance on Thon Maker's brother. Does he want to come play around with his brother? We are all about that family connection!

Based on Thon’s trade request, I’d guess this is a long shot.

True, Marquette doesn't have the assets to make a compelling offer for Thon.

He is a guard with size.   He played on a bad AAU team and a bad high school team.   Nothing but positives this year about his work with Blair.    I don't know how he ultimately turns out.  I don't know how much MU is going to need him to contribute next year.    I do know I am not throwing a kid under the bus before he gets to Marquette.

BTI Hoops is not a bad AAU team, it is an AAU team not sponsored by a shoe company.  Not the same.  Dexter's BTI teammates included 6-5 USC WR signee Drake London, 6-5 Cornell signee Jordan Jones, 6-8 top 25 2020 forward Zaire Williams, 6-10 top 250 2020 center Mason Hooks and 6-4 2020 guard Andre Henry.  They won the Peach Invitational where they went up against the Nike programs that didn't qualify for the Peach Jam.

Dwayne Killings following #56 rated Clifford Omoruyi.

My pet pick has to be Nimari Burnett.  Probably a long shot but he would be the perfect successor to assume the mantle at Shooter U.  Add Dainja, Strawther and Sibley to make up a dream class and I’m good.

Dexter really only needs to be a serviceable. Backup, next year he is likely behind koby n howard as 3rd pg
Year after most likely behind symir n koby then slots in as the backup as a junior anything more than that is bonus if he can acheive it

Yeah Dexter would appear to be a good program guy with upside and good measurables.

Looking forward to watching him develop.

Man, I've watched high school games where entire teams scored less than 39 points. Well done Mr. Torrence

I think Alex could end up the same size as Giannis and could be a very interesting recruit .

On the Symir Torrence note - Here is a 10 minute long highlight video that was uploaded just three weeks ago. He's a hooper.

Big, strong, defensive minded point guard with good court vision and ball handling.  Love it.  Will need to work on not dropping the ball down so low to start his shot, otherwise I love what I see.

Do we have a sense of the circumstances under which Symir would actually re-classify? It just doesn't seem there's a lot of PT available at present unless Markus leaves. and even then...

Jakobe Thompson, Racine Case,  in the mix for 2021. Has a good chance at getting 1000 prep points by the end of this sophomore season.

Would it be outlandish to think he would reclassify and then redshirt at MU his freshman year?

Not so different than what Joey did.

Joey was hurt and couldn't play.   If Joey was healthy he would have stayed at SPASH.

Not quite.  Joey graduated early from HS and enrolled in January and immediately redshirted.  He was injured and couldn’t play anyway, but went ahead a burned a year to get better treatment.

AirPunch is saying that Symir reclassifies and comes to campus in the fall and redshirts his first full season.
