I'm with you here. I don't think traveling to Rice Lake is a big deal. These guys spend their lives doing stupid trips likes this. Wojo had almost 20 years of Coach K equity (and secrets) built up. To travel and tell a McD AA that Wojo is the right coach for him wouldn't seem like that big of a stretch.  It was a huge deal at the time for Wojo to make his mark and he called in a favor to someone he considers his second dad to help seal the deal. Not sure what is so hard to believe about that. It would be harder to believe that K would put the full court press on to try and take Wojo's 1 legitimate shot at a 5* in his first coaching gig.

Calipari made a reported trip to see Ayo Dosonmu when his recruitment was in its final stretch, I thought at the time he might have just been trying to help out his guy Antigua get his feet set at Illinois after his crappy South Florida run as Dosonmu didn't really seem like a Kentucky guard.

There was a big deal about Roy W telling Thornwell that Frank Martin was some great guy a couple years ago too. Coaches seem to stick up for other coaches they like.

Word is Henry was scared of competing for playing time with Steve Taylor and Gabe Levin.

Luckily, Coach K put in a good word to help Wojo seal the deal.
