I think we need to add another big at some point but we also have Ike Eke coming off a redshirt year and Morrow has 2 years of eligibility, correct?

Yep. I'm feeling a little better after the recent article where Wojo said Eke should be 100% in a few weeks. Back injuries are unpredictable and seem to end careers at a higher rate than other kinds of injuries. But he is still a project who has missed a year of development at this point.

Morrow will be a BAMF in the post but he is only 6'7". He'll be fine on the boards and offense, but he struggled guarding bigger posts when he was at Nebraska. I like having at least two guys who are 6'9" or taller on the roster in case you need to defend an offensive 7 footer. Personal preference. I'd like one more big body in the next two classes.

Probably a topic all it's own, but ...

I wonder what Scoop would have said about the recruitment of Wade, followed by the year-long wait for him to be able to play.

My guess is that the majority of Scoopers would have been excited about him but that there would have been a decent-sized minority either urging lowered expectations or even being negative Nancies.

Even though I lived in Chicago, I didn't know a thing about him when we signed him. Then I took my kids to see Richards play Thornwood (Eddy Curry's HS team), and Wade was spectacular. From that moment on, I couldn't wait for him to suit up for the Warriors.

willie would have complained.

Though willie would have complained had we signed Lebron.

Joey is 6'9". Sam is 6'8". Ike is 6'9". Bailey is 6'8". Theo is 6'9". Matt is 6'10". The 2018-19 Warriors are the tallest team in our history.

The discussion was about after Matt graduates. And it was about Theo being the only "true" center at that point.

Ike is more of an active rim-protecting center ala Jameel McKay at ISU (without the baggage)...?

It think that is a little of an overstatement.  The Final 4 year we had 4 guys that were 6-10 Jackson, Merritt, Grimm and Novak along with Sanders at 6-8 and 4 of those guys had the ability to play the 5.  I agree that next year we will be much taller than we've been in a while and I'm certainly looking forward to it but to say this is the tallest team in our History  ::)

Juan Anderson's Mixtape

The more I think about it, the more I think the staff will wait until spring to add a big man via transfer.

The two spots being targeted for the fall are a 6-2+ guard and wing between 6-5 and 6-8.  Then the inevitable transfer or two occurs before the 2020 season.  Wojo then fills a roster spot with a big man transfer.

While that player sits out, MU still has Morrow, John, and Eke at the 5. Joey at the 4 with Morrow and Sam helping out. Bailey might be able to play the 4, too.  Joey could even play some 5, but the tradeoff would be losing a rim protector.

Things change, but Morrow specifically cited "Not playing the 5" as one of his reasons for transferring from Nebraska.

I'm aware he said that in an article.  At the end of the day, I think players would rather play than ride the bench.  And positions no matta.  Sam, Ed, Joey...call them whatever you want...but that combination will play together a lot.

Jameel McKay said the exact same thing when he transferred to Iowa State. Wanted to play the 3. He was exclusively used as a 5 at Iowa St.

Morrow will face up more than he ever would have at Nebraska, and he'll be out on the break more, and likely handle the ball more, but my guess is he'll spend a ton of time in the post on offense and a ton of time guarding opposing 5's. He'll definitely play some 4 in bigger lineups with Heldt or Theo at center. My guess is he knows this and never thought otherwise.

I wouldn't worry about it.....this was already discussed during the recruiting process

"I think he's pretty versatile," Wojciechowski said. "A lot of times on the floor he's not going to be the biggest guy on the floor (for us), which is different than what he experienced at Nebraska. But in certain situations, as we told him when he was here, there are some teams in our league that are smaller and there may be a time when he's the biggest guy on the floor. Talking to Ed, his thing is he wants to develop as a player and he wants to win and have a chance to play in March. He felt like we gave him the best opportunity to do that."

And Jeronne Maymon went to Tennessee to play the wing. Then bulked up and played inside.
In fairness to him, he was heavily influenced by someone outside the program to leave.

Right. So delete Matt and add an inch or two, and we have greAt height.  Comprendo?

I honestly don't. I'm saying we should add an inch or two by recruiting another big man in the next two years. If that's what you're saying than we agree!

You don't get it.  We have great height. We are OK.  Don't panic.

MuMark

Nobody is panicking......having great height in other places doesn't mean we shouldn't use a scholarship on someone who can defend low post 5s.

Rim protection is important.....if Eke can play then we are probably ok.....but obviously nobody knows yet if he can......guys like Haas, Happ and Delgado are going to be out there every season......we should have adequate depth in other areas.....a versatile 5 man would be a welcome addition.

Apropos of nothing, it is funny how in less than two weeks we've gone from worrying greatly about the lack of points to worrying greatly about the lack of bigs.

MuMark

I'm not worrying......Wojo knew we needed a point guard and he added 1.....he knows we will need a Big by 2020 and he will add 1.

I can't speak for others though.... 8-)
