Marquette is ranked No. 12 in the AP Poll and No. 13 in the Coaches Poll.

Apparently people took notice of the Cincy trashing.

Well, that and a whole bunch of teams ahead of MU lost.  But I would agree that we have the attention of the national media on some level by winning 9 of 10.  Need to keep it going as we are in line for a 3 seed in the tourney if we finish strong.

Agree, everything is peaches except it should be #12/#12.  The coaches are dumb, Florida should NOT be ahead of us.  21-5 (10-3) vs. 19-6 (7-3).  RPI of 12 vs. 26.  10-5 against top 100 vs. 7-3 top 100....but our worst loss is #75 LSU, Florida has lost to #110 Tennessee twice and #153 Rutgers.  Our SOS is better than theirs in non-conference, conference, and total.  Recent play of 9-1 in last 10 and impressive week last week vs. 7-3 last 10 including looking pathetic against Kentucky and almost as bad at home against Tennessee last week.  Also, with how we're playing now we would destroy them.

A lot of ball to be played this week, but opportunity to move up a spot if we take care of business with UNLV (#11) losing at TCU (in OT, with UNLV blowing an 18 point lead).

ESPN Power Rankings came out today, we came in at 11th.  (More surprisingly, it was a full ESPN article that didn't mention Jeremy Lin). Though rankings are meaningless, I think they reveal something worth noting.

Look at the teams above us: Kentucky, Syracuse, Mizzou, KU, Ohio St., Mich St., UNC, Duke, Georgetown, Baylor. Those are almost all powerhouses, perennial heavyweights in the college basketball world. Eight of those teams have won national titles, and the other two are having dream seasons.

My point is simply to realize the company we are in.  It's mid-Feb. and the only teams ranked above us are top class programs that bring in 4 and 5 star recruits year after year (minus Mizzou and Baylor). Kudos to Buzz, team, staff and the program.

Incidently, I think 8-10 is the highest MU can be ranked all year. I could see us passing Baylor or Gtown, but voters aren't ready to rank a five-loss Marquette team above any of those other names, even if those teams lose more.

UNLV lost this week and I imagine we would jump Florida in the poll we are ranked 13th.  Other teams we could jump if they lose today would be Baylor, Georgetown, and maybe UNC.

In the espn poll, there's only 90 votes from the 9th to 13th, so it's a logjam. Besides picking up all of the UNLV votes, we're going to gain a lot of believers with this big road win on espn.

The world according to Chicos ...  you can't judge a coach until he gets his own players.  Otule was recruited while Crean was the head coach.  So what is happening on the court should be credited to Crean is the jury is still out on Buzz.
