They won every game they played, what else do you want them to do?

I don't know, maybe schedule some half way decent non-conference games?

Who cares? Good to see them playin' like Warriors. Looks like there's plenty left in the tank and they're no where near shootin' their load.

I care, 15 is my guess

MattyWarrior

I don't care, but 15 to 18 because we don't get respect.

AZWarrior

Oh, I care.  Being ranked helps with "branding maintenance", which in turn helps in recruiting, which helps our brand, which in turn.....   ;)
All this talk of rights.  So little talk of responsibilities.

cheebs09

Should jump Miss St., Florida State, and Creighton. We may be right behind Sand Diego State. Probably should jump Murray State, but I don't know if the voters would drop them that far.

Two convincing wins this week.  Hopefully someone took notice...Buzz on postgame with a bit of a rant on how the team is tired of hearing reasons why they're not good enough.

#18/#19 this week.  Now 21-5.  Teams above us with losses and current records (OSU/MSU will be at least one more team to lose, we shouldn't pass either though):

#5 UNC: vs Duke (21-4)
#6 Baylor: vs Kansas, at Mizzou (21-4)
#8/#7 Florida: at Kentucky, vs. Tennessee (19-6)
#9/#7 Murray State: vs. Tennessee State (23-1)
#12/#11 Georgetown: at Syracuse (18-5)
#13/#14 San Diego State: at UNLV (20-4)
#15/#17 Florida State: at Boston College (17-7)
#16/#13 St. Mary's: at Gonzaga (22-3)
#17/#15 Creighton: Evansville, at Wichita State (21-5)
#20/#18 Mississippi State: vs Georgia (19-6)

The team right behind us in both polls, Virginia, lost to UNC.  We've beaten Wisconsin and Louisville who are also behind us and didn't lose - so ridiculous if anyone leaps us.

As far as how far we should go up, it looks like 3 spots to #15/#16 is a gimme.  We'll see how much the pollsters penalyze SDSU (one game better than us but with weaker schedule), Murray State (explains itself), and Florida (not expected to win but was embarrassed at UK, then dropped a home game to a bad UT team).  Georgetown also ahead of us; don't think we should pass them after they took Syracuse to overtime on the road.  If we got the respect we deserve for playing really well last week and winning 9 of 10 we should be #12.  If you look at overall resume, overall record, RPI, not having any bad losses, total quality wins, and recent play we should be ahead of Florida, that'll be my judge as to how much attention the pollsters are paying.

Using the AP rankings ....

(Bold added later)
#21 Harvard lost to Princeton this week

#20 Miss State lost to Georgia this week
#19 Virginia lost to UNC this week

We are #18

#17 Creighton lost this week to Evansville
#16 Saint Mary's lost this week for Gonzaga
#15 Fla State lost this week to Boston College
#13 San Deigo State lost to #14 UNLV this week.
#12 Georgetown lost to Syracuse this week.

Lots of teams around us lost this week.  Yes some lost to better ranked teams but the fact is they lost this week while we we won twice.  So, the door is open for a big jump in our rankings.  That is how it works.

Originally I said #15 next week.  I still think that is the case but if its wrong, we will be ranked better than that.

JamilJaeJamailJrJuan

Prior posts covered it pretty well. I say 14...but wouldn't be surprised to see MU as high as 12. Lots of losers this week.

I would take the Rick SLU program right now.

14 AP Poll / 14 Coaches Poll

Though it's possible we could climb higher if Florida or Murray State get heavily penalized for their losses. I could see Murray State dropping as many as 10 spots, and Florida dropping 5 for two losses (including a bad one at home) wouldn't be that much of a surprise. Honestly, 12/12 is possible, though I'm sticking with the more realistic 14/14.

jsglow

I'll say #12. That was a clinic yesterday against a borderline NCAA team.  Florida and Murray St. will get penalized. We slide past the 4 right ahead of us by virtue of their single game losses this week. Georgetown appropriately stays ahead of us and the Domers jump in at #21.

Davis' list looks pretty good.  But I really think he has to get Louisville in there with the way they're playing lately.  Parrish continues to have us a couple spots below where we belong, as has been the trend all year.  ANd his nuthugging of Bo is just pathetic...does anybody believe UW is the 11th best team in the country even with their recent win streak?

MattyWarrior

We should be #11,not UW. We never get the love and neither does Buzz.

I agree. I would put Louisville in at 22 and Gonzaga at 23. So Wichita State at 24 and St. Mary's at 25. Other than that I think Davis' list is spot on.

Key to both those lists is what Brew was hoping - Murray State and Florida both pummeling.  If that is true on a lot of ballots, then 12/12 is even possible.

I do think it's important for exposure, because ESPN doesn't always have time to go to No. 19 for highlights.

Shoot, our newspaper in Auburn had their top 25 round up today and only had room to go through #17, so we got left off.

Certainly at least 15, Brew probably still right at 14, but 12 not impossible.
The www.valueaddsports.com analysis of basketball, football and baseball players are intended to neither be too hot or too cold - hundreds immerse themselves in studies of stats not of interest to broader fan bases (too hot), while others still insist on pure observation (too cold).

Skitch

I think 13.  Florida gets penalized enough and I wouldn't be surprised to see Murray State down as far as 18-20

This irks me to no end... Yeah, I'll give 'em that the Big Ten is pretty good, but it bothers me mostly that they're Wisconsin Badgers. (And we beat them in their house.)
I'm Ron Burgundy?

It's clear that Seth Davis is a better pollster.

🏀

Parrish and Goodman both are huge Buzz/Marquette fans, they're rankings are very fair.

Marquette is No. 13 in this week's Coaches Poll.

Jumped murray state but not florida (by two votes 388-386).  Just keep winning baby!

Jumping up six spots in a week...not bad.
