voter details is still updating - you can hit refresh and see new entries each time...  I want to see Percy's vote :)

Percy has Marquette at #15 (from NR last week).

Alabama drops 2 spots after losing by 100?  Please.

Another way to look at is that they drop 199 votes after losing by a metaphorical 100. There was a lot of distance between them at #2 and the rest of the field last week. Now they are the top of smoosh between teams #4-7.

Was thinking we could maybe get to 12 -- if we edged past Iowa State and stayed ahead of the Baylor team we beat by 100 points. But Baylor had 2 very nice wins and we only beat DePaul, so #14 is A-OK. Let's just keep winning.

It's always fun to see us in the top 15 and see Madison get 0 votes. ND also with 0 votes (again), for those of us who loved that rivalry.

14th, but as close to 8th as we are to 17th.

Thanks for noticing that. Good info.

Some pretty clear tiers in the AP poll this week:

Tier 1:
Purdue (1550)
Tennessee (1443)
Houston (1415)

Tier 2:
Alabama (1312)
Arizona (1310)
Virginia (1258)
Kansas State (1190)

Tier 3:
Kansas  (1034)
UCLA (993)
Texas (939)
Baylor (905)
Gonzaga (837)
Iowa State (832)
Marquette (769)
TCU (752)
Xavier (689)

Tier 4:
Providence (438)
St. Mary's (419)
FAU (392)
Clemson (340)

Tweener:
Indiana (250)

Tier 5:
The rest

I think if we keep winning, any loss by the Tier 3 teams ahead of us will result in us jumping them. And wouldn't you know it, there are two matchups of tier 3 teams this week, KU at IAST and Texas at Baylor. Win our two and I think we move up at least two spots, though TCU is a threat to leapfrog.

Get a clue.  There is no number 29.
If they called it the "AP Top 30" there would be a #29.  And it would be Creighton.

Tier 1 is quite fair.

Marquette will have every opportunity to take over Tier 2 if we continue to play solid hoops.

I miss when ESPN used to list the AP Top 25 with results and schedule for each team (i.e., their results from the previous week and their schedule for this week) all on one page.

Any sites out there still doing that?
Thanks

Only if they called it the AP top 30 and still only gave everyone 25 votes. If they gave everyone 30 votes, we have no idea where Creighton would fall.

But everyone knows what people mean when they say Creighton is #29.

But MU is not going to " take over "
Tier 2.   That would require winning out ... or 1 loss.

Let's just win 2 this week

Most likely, but when someone leaves a team off the ballot we don't know where they would have ranked them. So, in theory, some voters who didn't include Charleston (a team "ahead" of Creighton) in their AP25 could have slotted Charleston at #300 whereas they could have have slotted Creighton at #26. Both just get NR in the current format. I agree that Creighton would generally be ranked around #29 anyway.

In the extreme case, every voter could agree that a team is ranked #26 and thus they would receive no votes which would make them #40th or whatever. At least that's how I understand the logic.

How about this..."Within the current system of voting for top 25 teams, Creighton is #29" :)

I can dig it.

I would put the over/under of actual head coaches who actually do their own voting in the coaches poll at 0.5, and I'd take the under.

Are there still media guys that just put the KP 1-25 in as their ballot?

Seriously, there's nothing more silly than the college hoops polls. C of C was ranked 18th last week, and was a double digit seed in every respectable mock bracket out there.

I'm going to kill some puppies now and yell at the clouds.

PGsHeroes32

Its nice to be ranked because it gives that little visibility boost.

But the # that we are ranked is pretty irrelevent to me. Top 5 would be really cool and top 10 has a little extra flavor. But I really could care less if we are 14 when i feel we deserve 11 or 12.

Fair enough.  I'm getting ahead of things and we need to see where Kam's at, but I do feel many of those teams in T-2 will lose a bunch if games.  The opportunity is there for Marquette.

Ya....that's bcrap.  But no biggie.

You do realize that there's no way to reconcile every head to head result, even when the teams are reasonably close otherwise.

wadesworld

Since I only get 25 spots to rank teams, I'd leave Creighton out of the rankings.  But if I had 30 spots to rank teams, I'd probably rank Creighton 3.

dgies9156

The only ranking I truly care about is our seed in the NCAA and if we will be in Orlando 😎
