She was at the state journal.  Just don't print anything bad about the badgers and you are hired.

Haha...I would not last a single day there.   ;D

Is there anything bad to print about the badgers? Did a football player score less than 50 on the ACT?

How did she even get to be an AP voter in the first place? I googled her, and her LinkedIn profile still has her as a 2021 Loyola Grad looking for her first real journalism job.

I was wondering the same thing.  I always assumed you had to work your way to earning something like that... put in the time and show a history of understanding the sport you're voting on and eventually when a spot opens up geographically that you get a shot.

But... apparently not?

I have to wonder if her firing has more to do with her general work or attitude.  The perception she gave with the vote mistake was that she didn't take things seriously.  Not the fact she messed up the vote (mistakes happen, and it's not the end of the world to mess up an AP vote) but how she handled it after.  It was very much a "oh, haha.  my bad!"   and then didn't make an immediate effort to fix it and gave the impression that she'd "get around to it."   If that's how she treated the job in general, then I can see why she may have been let go.

I took a peek at the Buckyville website to see what they had to say.

Apparently they (Buckyville posters) had not been happy with the job she was doing covering Badger basketball.  Some were surprised when she was rehired for the 22-23 season.

Also, Eric the Red claims he turned down the job.

Have any of the teams 20-25 lost this week? Their Saturday games don't look tough

Its DJOver

Maryland is for sure dropping out. Lots of action tomorrow.

Maryland will most likely be out but other than that, no. I think we're still just on the outside looking in since we're at the point now where I don't think we see many teams jumping others that haven't lost.

Good point....we'll see what happens but just need to keep winning.

I am going with 22 only because there are too many writers who are too chickensh!t to rank us properly.

MU82

Won't be easy to get in due to action of teams already ahead of us. Maybe sneak in 24-25 -- that would be great.

TAMU, Knower of Ball

We'll probably move past Arizona State unless they beat San Diego by 30 or something. We should be ahead of Iowa State because they only play one cupcake this week. We should pass Charleston despite them winning their only game this week. Memphis lost so we should be able to hop over them. This means that if someone falls out, we should be the one getting ranked.

Miami, VT, and TCU are unlikely to lose to their cupcakes (though close wins could result in us hopping them). Ohio State has a tough test on a neutral court against North Carolina so a potential drop out there. Wisconsin beat their cupcake by an acceptable amount. Maryland getting punked by UCLA probably drops them below us. Auburn plays at USC, a loss could theoretically drop them below us. We're not catching anyone higher than Auburn.

I'm going to guess a minimum of 25 and a maximum of 20.

MU has solid wins.   No bad losses.  That matters for selection Sunday, less so for December polls.     While I think MU has done enough to be a top 25 team, I doubt the voters have paid as much attention.
