We'll get votes. But we're back in the position we were in before Wisconsin and Maryland and Creighton and Providence. Win all the games this week and we probably get ranked. Don't, and we won't.
Thinking we will still be on the outside looking in but I guess cross that bridge WHEN we get there

Agreed. One vote at a time, don't get ahead of yourselves.

Considering the second of those two games would be a road game at likely top-15 Butler, I think it would do it. But agreed...it's definitely a bridge to cross after the results are tallied.

I think our chances at Butler are pretty good. Beating Butler would not surprise me one bit.

What makes Butler challenging is how well they take away what their opponent wants to do. I'm concerned what happens if they can limit Howard. That said, if Markus is even average (25-28 points, 53+ eFG%, doesn't turn it over too much) I agree. I can see that game being decided at the arc, both teams are very similar in how they diametrically shoot and guard the three.

Not positive but pretty sure Markus played pretty well against them last year didn't he?

Now obviously Butler is much improved this year, but its basically the same players at least.

Received only 2 points, which were from one voter putting us at 24, I believe. So we have a lot of teams to jump over to get ranked, and even 2 wins this week might not do it.

And that's OK. Just keep winning, and we'll see what's what. I like that we're solidly in the tournament right now, and I feel good about the way we're playing.

Only 2 points?   That is embarrassing for the AP pollsters.   I did not think we'd be ranked, but how is it that we only had one pollster give us 2 points?  I just don't get it.  Look at the resumes of the other teams receiving votes and even some of the lower ranked teams.  We should be on the radar of more than 1 person.

WI has some big wins but 11-7 overall getting 40 votes is ridiculous

Where I think Marquette may be able to take advantage is in terms of size. Baldwin and Thompson will be out there, but I think both would struggle with Howard's quickness and they don't really have the size to overwhelm him the way larger defenders sometimes do. They could try putting Jordan Tucker on Howard, but they we get a significant size advantage with guys like McEwen, Anim, and Bailey matching up against their small guards.

This will definitely be a coaching test, but there are ways I think we can exploit them.

What worries me most about the Butler game is that Butler will likely lose @ Nova tomorrow night..so MU going in there with them on a 3 game losing streak?? Not good. That being said, I haven't bought the hype with them from day 1. Think they are starting to be exposed for who they really are(a bottom half BE team, even if they ultimately don't end up there). Definitely a winnable game, and as Brew said, there are ways of exploiting them.

We need to earn being on the radar of more voters. To them, we dropped off the face of the earth with the consecutive losses to Providence (at home) and Seton Hall (decisively), and beating two mediocre teams didn't get us back in their field of vision. Just gotta win games.

Their "hype from day 1" was a predicted 8th (out of 10) place finish in the Big East.

And I'd much rather play a team struggling than a team rolling.

Definitely. I'm sure teams were much more hyped to play us second half last year than first half

Received no votes this week

https://apnews.com/APTop25CollegeBasketballPoll

Does our current resume scream "ranked"? No.  But our computer numbers in both Kenpom and NET indicate that we should at least be in the conversation.  No votes seems unfairly low, especially when 13 of the receiving votes teams are behind us in KP and several have Kenpom scores in the 60s.

FAUX OUTRAGE!!!
I smell another 3 game win streak

BM1090

Probably not ranked. Guessing we'll receive a decent amount of votes. 1-0 next week and we'll probably creep in.

marqfan22

It will be close. A lot of T25 teams lost and teams with more votes lost.

Honestly, Marquette and Creighton should both be ranked this week. Kind of doubt it happens, but they're both top 25 teams.

I expect receiving votes. Another one of those "if we win all our games this week we'll be ranked" weeks. Of course, so far that has been the case 5 times this year and those weeks included losses to Wisconsin, Maryland, Creighton, Providence & Seton Hall, and Butler.
