7   Villanova
25   Seton Hall
33   Marquette
35   Providence
44   Xavier
45   Butler
54   Creighton
65   St. John's
68   Georgetown
95   DePaul

------------------
It's going to be difficult for anyone to stay in the Top 25, because just about everyone is the same relative quality.  Getting above .500 is going to be quite a task, it looks like everyone will be floating around it.

Just don't see how they have seton hall second

Why do people want MU to be underrated pre-season and be "under the radar"?  If that is the description you want of this team, that means you aren't all that well regarded?

Do you think UK, Duke, KU or MSU fans hope they come in under the radar?  If you are considered Top 10 in the  preseason, that means you have a really good team.  I want a really good team. I want this team/program to be considered among the best going into the season.

Now that isn't going to happen this year for whatever reason and maybe I am overvaluing this team, but if we reach the level of success many think we can achieve, a year from now we will more than likely be considered a Top 10 team.  That is what I am hoping for.

I think people want this team to be underrated because some of our most recent success has come when our team has a chip on its shoulder.  If we finish this upcoming season as well as some have theorized and only lose Heldt, and JC going into the '19-'20 season, I think a lot of these "experts" would have us solidly in the top 10-15.

Good question.  I think that folks still remember Buzz's last year when MU was picked to win the BE.  But instead of Vander, TJ Taylor, Jameel McKay, Duane Wilson, and Todd Mayo, we got bad Buzz and some solid situational role players being the primary starters. Fans don't remember what was supposed to be but remember what was.

I remember well what Buzz's last year was supposed to be. One of the big disappointments I have had as an MU fan. That said, I never thought Vander was playing his senior season, but on paper we looked awfully good for a few weeks.

To be honest, none of this stuff matters when the ball is tipped off.  Pre-season predictions are ultimately worthless.

To that end, did anyone see this one?

1. Marquette
2. 350-way tie between all other D1 teams.

Seriously, why do we care what anyone else thinks at this point, especially "experts" whose only credential is that they have an SBNation blog?
Have some patience, FFS.

Crazy coincidence that you and I have the exact same ratings!

The poll listing Seton Hall 2nd in the Big East did give me a chuckle, though. Surprised DePaul wasn't first!

Not if you successfully bet your prediction.   :)

I know this is out there...but we're just 8 wins away from top-5 by the end of the day, Dec. 1.

I suppose other teams could say this...but its a real possibility for MU.

of course overlooking a real test at Carroll

we were undefeated to Dec 19th in 2011-12 and we still topped out at 10 so not necessarily.

If we start 8-0, that includes wins over the current #1 and (likely) #6. I think top-5 would be very plausible.

Not to mention knocking off #12 KSU.

True, and Indiana on the road would be a respectable feather. I don't expect we will start 8-0, but if we did we'd have legit 1/2 seed buzz before Big East play even started.

TAMU, Knower of Ball

I think both IU and KU keep us from getting in and give us a huge hill to climb but we eventually get there.

MU received 1.91 points per voter so almost 24th in most polls. The actual 25th place team , Washington received 2.54 points per voter so they were closer to 23rd in most polls.

Not studying the other teams ahead in the poll schedules, I think a true road win for MU at Indiana and we move up.
