MUDPT

Quote from: MUEng92 on December 07, 2024, 04:27:49 PMI rewatched Kam's postgame interview. I believe he referenced "the guardians" talking about the seniors.  Is that just what this group calls themselves or is that an ongoing thing?

Shaka has called Stevie, Jop, Kam and Cam the Guardians, because they were freshmen his first year and have stuck around for 4 years now.

Its Kam. But Ben Gold was the second best player on the court today.

I usually have one good idea a year.

Last year was an app where you click a button, and it finds you the closest hotdog stand. Nobody steal that one.

Kam, but I'm throwing Chase in as another honorable mention. Giving 12 points & 8 boards (including 4 offensive) in a team leading 36 minutes when we didn't even know if he'd play an hour before tipoff was really impressive.

Juan Anderson's Mixtape

Kam obviously.

But Chase was terrific on Tonje. I was leaning Chase for SOTG until Kam the Kloser put this game on ice.

Another insane recovery block too. WHich I think is lost in shuffle cause ball stayed live and wound up in chase driving 1 on 3 the other end and being stuffed.

But another crazy defensive play

Quote from: DoctorV on December 07, 2024, 04:25:40 PMYea sure.

However, a lot of the good fans want something to happen more than it's happening...

We'we (you've) been saying Benny is an nba talent for years.

Forget nba talent, we just need him to be a high major talent for a year and a half.

Let's not pretend he's a world beater all the sudden.

Oso and Shaka have been pushing him, and that's good enough for me.

Let see the red mamba make a huge difference this season, would be amazing

"Replacement level" as you said earlier is a ridiculous take.......he has a 120 ortg.....he doesn't turn it over.....he plays good defense and blocks shots at a pretty decent clip......,Evan Miya has an excellent statistical site that evaluates Players for impact on both sides of the ball.......you are right he is our lowest rated starter......but he rated as the 223rd best player in the nation.

Certainly not all American.....certainly not all conference......but a very valuable college basketball player.

mileskishnish72

Well, Kam, of course.

But as many posters have pointed out, Ben was great today. Chase was gutty, Jop certainly had his moments.

But how many times did Stevie save a blown possession, get an O rebound, or just show up to save a potential disaster? He is the total team player, often overlooked, but we'll miss him when he's gone.

Thank you, I appreciate the data.
Seriously.

Also thanks for saying he's the lowest rated starter while pointing out that he's pretty darn good.

I started the talk saying that was the best I've ever seen him, and I meant that.

So, I'll leave it at that. It was the best I've ever seent him, and I really hope he keeps it up

I'd relish that app. It'll take some onions to make sure rival inventors can't ketchup to you.

They always refer to Stevie as the ultimate glue guy.  He continues to do all of the little things that add up to a big thing.  I love that he is being more assertive offensively this year.  He has a great feel for getting to the rim and drawing fouls.  He's a winner through and through.

TAMU, Knower of Ball

Quote from: Goose on December 07, 2024, 04:31:43 PMDoctor

I like you as a poster and was speaking in general terms. Anyone that doubted that Ben Gold does not know ball, imo. There are posters on here that I respect a lot and have seen a lot of basketball that I do not always agree with and love the discussion. That said, do you think Ben has been hiding his skills and just decided to show them today?

This is not Theo John blocking a shot into the 43rd row, this is a highly skilled big man that has been judged on three point percentage and how the coach has used him. He will play a very big role in the success of the team moving forward.

Goose continues to know ball

Kam.

Though there were so many standouts.

Ben leading in +/-. Joplin was a real factor inside the arc. Ross playing through injury. It was so obvious in arena that Stevie was battling multiple injuries and just kept finding a way back on the court to do what he does best. Tre with some strong minutes.

An overall great team win.
VIOLENCE!

Gotta be Kam.

As an aside, has Marquette ever had a guy who is more fun to watch than Kam?

Markus, Tyler, Oso, Sam Worthen and Artie Green were fun, but I just flat out enjoy watching Kam play the past few seasons more than any MU player I can remember.

Hobbes:  What's misunderstood about you?

Recency bias, I'm sure. But I will say that Kam has more ability to create for himself (and something out of nothing at that) more than any player since maybe Jerel
