You put it in the context of Trump being safe, so a "win" for who you perceived as a Trump supporter.  What's the opposite side of that then?  Isn't an American political candidate and fellow human being safe just a win period, regardless whether you support that person, loathe them, or in between?

I know people who are in charge of security detail for "MVP's"  it is very comprehensive and most times the research starts weeks in advance.  they study everything from weather, traffic patterns, construction, alternative routes and yes, if I was a sniper, where would want to be?

   the roof top where this jackwagon was , was probably the best sniper seat in the house!!

  SS was alerted to a dude on the roof!  umm, why was he even allowed to be there, much less with an AR?  was the dude just trying to avoid the long lines to get into the venue, yeah right

I remember when JP II was shot.  Ultimately went into prison, met the shooter, forgave him and prayed for and with him.   Lobbied to have his sentence commuted.   It was, and the shooter returned to Turkey and converted to Carholicism.

In a news conference, Kevin Rojek, FBI special agent in charge of the Pittsburgh office, said it was "surprising" the gunman was able to fire multiple shots during the rally for Trump.

"We're still working through the security apparatus that the Secret Service had in place, what potentially happened," he said.

"There's going to be a long investigation into exactly what took place and how the individual was able to get access to the location, what type of weapon he had. All that is really days, weeks, and months of investigation."

Lt. Col. George Bivens of the Pennsylvania State Police added that the investigation would allow authorities to "take a look at where any failures occurred and what can be done better in the future."

"In their defense," Bivens added, "it is incredibly difficult to have a venue open to the public and secure that against any possible threat against a very determined attacker."

It might. But that's not the standard. Incitement means that it is likely to cause immediate unlawfulness.

A reporter calling Trump Hitler isn't likely to cause immediate unlawfulness, and therefore 100% protected.

Now if said reporter said outside one of his rallies on a bullhorn, "Trump is Hitler! Someone needs to go inside and shoot him now!" That's incitement and therefore not protected.

It's $15 more than three years ago when he would have been 17. Obviously his registering as a Republican and gun enthusiasm would seem to be more recent reflections of his views.
