Rest them as long as it takes. Confident they win the next two with or without Sean and Kam.

Yep. Agreed. Take care of business the next two games and they get a week of rest.

I don't know.  Perhaps I am overreacting.
Ah......perhaps......but just this one time.

He was not "wearing a brace" he just isn't practicing this week. might play wednesday but sunday is more likely.

Love this site.

I heard he was sitting out in protest of only having one SOTG

So he wasn't hit by a bus on Wisconsin Ave., after being shot in a typical MU campus drive-by-shooting? My sources suck.

That'll be tough considering we don't have a game Sunday. Simpler to ease back in that way, I guess.

I am not at all confident that MU will beat Villanova without those guys.

If they can't play, they can't play, but Nova  was tough enough when MU was at full strength and Moore was not available. It would help if MU had another scholarship guard to fill some minutes, but without that it's a pretty thin roster. You can bet Nova will go to a lot of posting up to try to draw fouls or get easy baskets against players who are fatigued or can't afford to get into foul trouble.

Time to burn EE red shirt if neither can go?
Assume what I say should be in teal if it doesn't pass the smell test for you.

I doubt they'd "rest" unless they are too injured to play.

If they are healthy, they play. If not, they don't. It's pretty simple.

If neither can go, they aren't burning a redshirt. These aren't season ending.

I don't think EE can really go.

Eerily similar to 2018-2019 when Marquette started 23-4 and had the season derailed by a Markus Howard injury. Tough to have your leading scorer not at 100%.

Hopefully this is something Kam can quickly recover from and avoid having it linger. Time for a stretch run!

I don't think you can make that comparison. Kam is great, but he's the 4th, maybe 3rd most important person in the starting lineup.

I'm not 100% certain this is true. I think it is, and I'd rank him as the 3rd most important. But there is going to be a lot less space on the floor without Kam out there.

Both leading scorers.  Nobody on the team can put points on the board as consistently as Kam.

This team can find a way to win games without him, but if he's unavailable or not 100%, getting a protected seed and a matchup that can yield us a tournament win is suddenly more difficult and definitely less likely.  Need him.

Not that I'm overly worried -- just curious.
This is the first time that I can remember MU having five walk-ons. Is one better than the others? Is there one who can play a few minutes when it matters (if needed)?

I don't think so...if Marcus would have sat out a few games and gotten healthy, Sam would have had a few games to shine.  We win at least a game or two and win the big east, don't play a future NBA all-star and get embarrassed in the first round and the letter doesn't get written...and sadly Wojo is still our coach.

So Kam sitting a game or two out to get healthy doesn't seem anything like that season.

Jonah Lucas is the Preferred Walk On (PWO).

Not sure how he'd play against this competition.  Maybe as well as Rob Hanley in 2005 when Travis went down?

I've already said I think they'd be fine if he misses a few and comes back healthy.

The issue would be if it lingers.

Next man up, hey?

The problem is that there is no next man. There's no freshman scholarship player who hasn't been getting a lot of minutes who can step in and play a larger role. It would be up to 6 players to do what is usually done by 8.

7 players done by 9.

Ben gold is capable and willing. Start jop in for kam.
Chase picks up Sean jones mins.
Ben picks up more min.
And then Itejere can get in even if it's a few min to just help foul or be extra fouls if needed.

Gold played 3 minutes in the first game against Villanova and he has generally not played much more than that in the games against better teams.

I don't think he's ready to match up with guys like Dixon and Slater.

Villanova has had a good starting lineup but not much depth this season. With Moore back, if both Joneses can't play, Nova will have a depth advantage over MU.

If Joplin can make 8 of 9 3 pointers again MU should be OK.
