Jamal would have helped last year a lot.  Especially on the glass and the corner three.  He also may have lessened Lewis' load and perhaps JLew would have come back this year.

panda

Corner 3 - something he showed to excel at his freshman year and then never was featured within the offense again ;-/

Completely drove me nuts panda the way Wojo quick hooked Jamal and tried to utilize his talents.  Makes 0.0 sense to this day.  I'm not saying Jamal didn't have flaws, especially as a young player, but Wojo's abominable decisions with his playing time cannot be glossed over.  I should have written Wojo a letter.  :)

Lol letters don't work with Wojo. Agreed - he ruined the kids confidence. Glad he proved his worth elsewhere.

I very rarely post.  However, for those that remember (perhaps Ners and a few others?), I was/am a huge Cain fan.  Of the times I posted,  it was more than likely regarding Cain, Wojo and Cain's mischaracterized bad handles.  Never have I or do I support a player that leaves MU.  It's just the way I am.  However, Cain was different.  I am so happy for him and so glad we rid ourselves of Wojo.  That guy was the worst coach and I couldn't stand how he treated Cain.  To not see an obvious future NBA caliber talent was one of his many flaws as a coach.  Well done Jamal.   I'll continue being one of your biggest supporters.

Well said Frenn.  I'm proud and happy for Cain.  Outstanding kid who worked his butt off for this opportunity.

Too bad Shaka ran him off which was a good thing since he was a Wojo recruit unless he was from SPASH those guys know how to play ball unlike other recruits who don't let the door hit you on the way out but I knew he'd be good except for the coach but our current coach didn't want him but he's better judge of talent

If the stats I am reading are both accurate and up to date, Jamal Cain's NBA point total is now only 3 behind the point total of lottery pick and budding NBA superstar, Johnny Davis.

When I told my UW friends that I thought Bennedict Mathurin would be a much better pro than Johnny Davis they said I was just a Marquette hater.  I believe thus far Mathurin has proved to be a better prospect.

I'm still waiting to hear how Wojo's genitalia made Shaka not keep Jamal.

One is averaging close to 20 ppg.  One has played 30 minutes total and was reassigned to the G-League.   You're well on your way to being right.

4ever's been weirdly obsessed with male genitalia for years now.

Seems to be a meat loving eater thing. Especially with the dentists. Think Roqqet also loves them.

Davis being sent to the G-League by the Wiz isn't a great start to his career

Mathurin and Ivey have impressed me the few times I've watched them.  They could have superstar potential.

Never understood this for grad transfers. It's essentially the same as cutting off friends who go get a masters from somewhere that isn't Marquette.

Delighted for Jamal. Was a great teammate with a positive attitude .

Also Kudos to Ners. He called out last  season that Jamal would be on an NBA roster this season . Now here Jamal is on a Roster and actually making a contribution .

I was told by those that know him that he was really motivated by Shaka running him off campus

Post more FreenA!  Yes, Wojo handedly helped kill Jamal's confidence on the court as a sophomore.  Love how Shaka lets our young guys play through mistakes.  Sean Jones threw the ball all over in Game 1 and still got 13 minutes and got 18 more against Central Michigan.

Rarely do you see Shaka immediately hook a guy for a mistake. That was par for the course for Wojo if you weren't Henry, Markus, Brendan, Joey.

Thanks Herm.  Actually as I recall Brew and TAMU also thought Jamal had some NBA potential early in his career at MU - projecting to the upside.

Don't think Brendan fits that. Matt Carino or Sam both would be higher than Brendan in terms of who didn't get the fast hook

I thought Wojo should have played Cain and Bailey more that year.  Jamal was still a little turnover prone, and clearly had a short leash.  Wojo was in love with the Hausers and Joey was playing 30 mpg on a surgically repaired ankle.   Until he hit the freshman wall at the end of January and played poorly down the stretch.

So, agreed.  Wojo used Cain poorly his sophomore year.

Jamal was ready to transfer after that season until Hausergate.

I know you know. I was just adding an accent to your point that Jamal was frustrated.

On a related note, I never got the Wojo love of Bailey.
