He's on ESPN with the Heat.  5-5, 12 pts, 5 rebs, 4 STEALS,  in the first half!!

Couldn't be happier for Jamal.  Was a great kid while at MU and great to see him make a splash in his pro preseason debut.

MU82

Happy for Jamal. Would be cool if he makes the team.

I always felt Wojo underutilized Jamal and jerked with his playing time.  His short leash nonsense drove me up the wall.  That's not to say Cain didn't need to grow as a player, and it took him some time, but I never understood what Wojo was thinking.  I'd be thrilled if the young man made the Heat's roster.  Great kid.  He never complained about dealing with a lot of mickey-mouse nonsense.

Ners disagrees strongly with this. He thinks Wojo deployed Cain perfectly.

I don't know anything about Ners.  I do know Jamal struggled with his handles but you could see he had great bounce and a solid shooting stroke.  In his first 2+ years he really didn't get an opportunity and it messed with his confidence.

I was just kidding. Elon used to go by "Ners" ... he loves Jamal, hates Wojo and agrees with your take. Wojo's criminal "mind games" with Jamal have been a frequent topic of his. Nrs might give you a big, wet kiss for giving him another opening to rail about it all over again!

Jamal progressed as a freshman.  I was looking forward to his sophomore year.  Then Wojo's love affair with Joey happened and Jamal's playing time and development was the casualty.

And Brendan Bailey :-/

Jamal had a promising freshman year. Good shooter from the corners and bouncy rebounder. Then he was expected to be something he wasn't yet and punished quickly for any mistake. very clearly shattered his confidence.

Indeed.   To be fair, Jamal's ball handling early on was an adventure.  And Bailey never shot like he did prior to his mission.
But both Hausers were coming off surgery, Joey didn't play his senior year in high school, and both were playing 30 mpg through the end of January.  Joey hit his wall (odd) and played a little less down the stretch, but he still averaged 29 minutes per game.

So, yes, Jamal was not used enough.

Excellent point.  The quick hook never made any sense to me.  Especially because we had a number of players that had flaws and lapses during games.  I probably should have written Wojo a letter.

So happy for him getting his shot and taking full advantage!  Wish he could go down as a Marquette player, but I'll survive!    :)

Yep. Especially the part about "punished quickly..."
