Ep 5 of TD was def the best. Not sure how it all wraps up in a overall satisfying way with 1 ep left tho.

If you like(d) Slow Horses, check out Criminal Record on Apple+. The six episodes released so far are excellent IMHO.

American Fiction, on the other hand, was amazing.

+1. After The Holdovers my favorite movie this year.

The season wasn't horrible, but I can't call it great. Mostly weird.

Best we've seen so far this year, too.

Yup. Pretty much just blah. Only 6 eps so not a total waste of time.

But they basically went with the most simple resolution and nothing really mattered except some lesson about mother nature.

And the s1 quote in the finale was horribly forced.

Mr. and Mrs. Smith was much better than I expected it to be. Lots of action and a surprising amount of comedy.

Yes, it's very good.

And definitely not sanitized like the Richard Chamberlain version from 40 plus years ago.

Shogun is awesome through 3 eps.

I have to have a permanent wiki fandom page up for characters but it’s great

My girlfriend and I tried watching the new live-action series of Avatar: The Last Airbender on Netflix. I think we got through 3 episodes then decided to stop and re-watch the original animated series instead. A week later we are already on Season 3.

The Netflix show is certainly better than the M. Night Shyamalan movie, although that is the lowest bar imaginable. But it still doesn't come close to the original in terms of charm, character depth/development, and addressing mature themes like war, genocide, and morality in such a thought-provoking yet clarifying manner. I'm still blown away that this was a children's cartoon on Nickelodeon.

I have had enough of the Buffalo Wild Wings commercial.  They can retire it the rest of the tournament.

I’ve never understood basing your ad campaign on a largely unlikeable character.

Very much agree.  Always surprised how there are SO MANY repetitive commercials for March Madness and people get incredibly tired of them.

What's the advertising theory there?

The BW3 ad, Capital One ads, and Homes.com ads, are all annoying as F.  And not the least bit entertaining.

Well, there are many theories about what level of frequency of exposure is needed for a campaign to be effective.  However, it seems they have way overshot that.  Need a few additional executions for it not to be overly repetitive/a waste of $. Most companies fail to produce enough creative as that costs $$$.

Also, we are probably going to be over-exposed as we are very heavy consumers of basketball.  Most people are not going to be seeing it as many times as we are.

While we are discussing ads-

I sometimes wonder if ads featuring NCAA teams have several versions depending upon region. It would be very expensive to produce additional versions and I would like to know the teams you see featured to test my theory. For example, a large number of hotel "brands" under one owner features the UNC marching band and a player in their March Madness ads here in Virginia.

I have noticed VCU's ram in a number of ads over the years and then remembered that Richmond is the headquarters for a huge advertising firm, the Martin Agency. With VCU being very strong in visual arts and subjects related to advertising, my guess is that Martin is loaded with VCU grads.
Wild horses couldn't drag me into either political party, but for very different reasons.

I used to live that Ludacris song from the Nissan commercials. Especially when Les Grossman is dancing to it .

Have some patience, FFS.

Thanks for the reply. My guess was that the production costs, even if only part of an ad was reshot, would be enormous. While the many mascots in some ads covers a lot of ground, it's gotten old. I'm sticking with my theory on the VCU Rams mascot though. I cannot come up with another logical reason to explain why an A10 school's mascot would be in a number of ads.
