Smoke them in the stands while wearing your suit.

It’s BS I can’t smoke coffin nails during games.  We could in ‘77

Texas is no better than a middle of the road Big East team.

At least practice what you preach. Pretty much a brand new roster for Texas. It’ll take time….

Is Beard just that good?

Shaka was that bad?

It does look like he had recruited some subpar players going by the what he brought along to MU.
Every time you make a post every word in that post makes you look incrementally stupider to the point where it’s clear that they, much like you as an individual, have no semblance of cohesion or rational thought behind them at all.

What are your takes now like 1 for 500?

There are some that believe a lot of Beard's success (especially defensively) was because of Mark Adams.

I haven't even read this thread, and I'm not going to waste my time, but Texas is no more of a title contender than Marquette is right now.

I do not think Texas is going to win the title, but they have a much better chance to do so than Marquette does this year.

Agreed...though I would have settled for Brad Stevens, Mark Few, or Jay Wright.

Hell, while we are at it, let’s raise John Wooden or Al from the dead. It’s been done once so…..

Texas was a legit title contender last year under Shaka.  Until they weren't.
The shaka sign, sometimes known as "hang loose", is a gesture of friendly intent often associated with Hawaii and surf culture.

Texas is 50-1, MU is 80-1.

So Texas is a long shot, MU a somewhat longer one.

Another way of looking at how close they are: one site gives Texas a 1.96% chance of winning, and Marquette 1.23%

Hit one of those open layups against Creighton, and we are probably equal.

Chris Beard went all in on the portal and his only freshman who played left the team at the semester and transferred to Texas Tech.  He had signed with Tech when Beard was coach and then came to Texas with him.

If people want Shaka and Marquette to be Transfer Portal U and live and die with spring transfer recruiting, that's their preference.  One of Beard's transfers, Tre Mitchell, has left the team for personal reasons and not sure when or if he'll be back this year or in the future, so kind of an uneasy future if some of your transfers don't try to get a 5th year next year.  Bishop and Allen of Texas are in that boat.

Marquette may or may not add a transfer next year and we don't know if everyone eligible next year will come back, obviously, but as a longtime fan, I'd rather the team be built predominantly with high school recruits and a transfer sprinkled in as needed.  I think that's Shaka's preference also.

Texas 3-7 vs to 25 teams.

Gonna get a 4 seed with the least impressive wins possible.

Basically have done a good job of winning road games against the middling Big12 teams. And won a couple home ones against really good teams. Kansas and Tennessee which were both pure survival.
Lazar picking up where the BIG 3 left off....

It all comes down to roster construction. He brought a lot of big names in, but they all play similar if not the same roles. There aren’t enough minutes for Mitchell, Allen, Bishop and Disu. Carr has been underwhelming and their role playing level guards have been just that, role players.

It’s totally fine to build from the transfer market, but build intelligently.
