The whole “ atmosphere “ at the games is lame.

MU is starting a new era, and much of the pregame is the same old same ol ...

It’s NOT good.  The student “ rave “
was awful.  Really bad.

Maybe the students had forgotten what it was supposed to be.

I moved seats this year to the corner closest to the band, so I am one of the few people who want less band.
So you chose to be closest to the band……..but don’t like the band.
Seems like an odd decision for your seat choice.

Agreed.  Because of UW football.

That's just silly. Jump Around isn't played because of UWM football. It's an anthem. It doesn't belong to them more than We Will Rock You, Thunderstruck, Crazy Train, Lose Yourself, or any of the dozens of other songs that are played at hundreds of arenas nationwide belong to any one team.

Kind of wish they would quietly retire the playing of "Jump Around" in the 2nd half. If you're going to rip off someone else's shtick, at least steal something that's not so recognizable to the locals.

And this was driven home to me last night. Two guys in row in front of me and 2 seats over. Marquette guy decked out in blue and gold, his guest wearing Wisconsin sweatshirt. At the conclusion of "Jump Around" UW guy turns to his MU pal and says "do you guys play 'On Wisconsin ' and ' Varsity ' too?

Agree 100%.  It's beyond lame and could not come off worse when compared to the raucous student section at Camp Randall.  And then to have that dorky guy on the scoreboard...just embarrassing.

We may not have originated playing "Jump Around", but Marquette did originate the use of "Kernkraft 400".

So we got that going for us, which is nice.
Have some patience, FFS.

85% of the people in the northeast of the country don't know where Wisconsin the state is located, much less that a House of Pain song is exclusively "theirs" to be played at a football game.

UW football also plays “Where the Streets Have No Name” as their hype video before they come onto the field. One local reporter accused MU of stealing that too, even though MU probably used it before there was a video board at Camp Randall.

I’ve long maintained that college traditions are revered by the people that went to the schools and “meh” to everyone else. Although after the UW Army football game, watched a bunch of West Point alums stand at attention and sing their alma mater with their players. That was cool.

Have the O’Donnell bros (can’t remember their name, maybe Spanish ODs?) make an intro song for game day.

Is it possible that after a year and a half off from proper partying our students are just a bunch of sober kids who don't know how to "rave"?

I love occasionally going back and listening to some of those old Spanish O'Donnell's songs. They're comically bad. I still think my favorite is Buzzin' which repeatedly celebrates a Sweet 16, but spends more time talking about the 2011 11-seed to make us seem like an unstoppable force. And it's got a Rob Frozena shout. Hilarious.

Spanish OD were the floor above me in OD. That was not a good time for music. It was even more painful when they played them during the "ray or rave" when everyone stormed the library.

At least the first one was semi impulsive. The two after that we're crappy and organized by the school.
