Completely agree with you. Yormark wants to split up the basketball and football contracts in 2031. I think that is what is driving these decisions - every conference thinks they can get 2 different contracts.

I think it's a little different. GCU and Gonzaga are joining knowing they will always be tag-alongs, but if it is lucrative for them, they will happily tag along.  This isn't an equal number of football and non-football members having an existential crisis about the conference - especially since its historic success was in basketball and not football.
